LOL,who the fuck asked Bethesda Game Studios who BGS were???

are they shadows i can see in the third picture?..maybe a soldier holding hands with some children?if it's that then obviously i would say Wolfenstein..or am i imagining the shadows?

I hope its not a new IP,because i think teasers are pointless for new IPs...how can we guess if its a new IP

is that 1960 number that appears on all pics anything to do with it?

I don't think anyone did, that's the info that pops up when you click on @BGS_Devs on Twitter.  I figured I'd pre-clarify in case anyone here asked.

Wolfenstein:The New Order

Quote
Wolfenstein: The New Order by MachineGames, will arrive for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC at the end of the year, Bethesda just announced over at GameSpot. (Versions for next-gen consoles are also coming.) That's the debut trailer. The game is set in 1960 but, yes, Nazis will still be the bad guys.

Quote
That's because they won World War II, at least for purposes of this story. So B.J. Blazkowicz is back in action against the ruling order, charged with mounting an "impossible counter-offensive" to overthrow the Nazi regime.

Nazi Mechs and other superweapons feature into this alternate reality, but evidently Jimi Hendrix still was born and managed to cover "All Along the Watchtower" seven years before Bob Dylan wrote it.

Trailer in the link

Meh.

yeah i can see where you are coming from, while i am still looking forward to this game, the premise that the Nazi's won the war has been done before a few times(and a few times in video games as well...Turning Point i think was the last),I remember Rutger Hauer in Fatherland  also

still,it could do something fresh and i always like stuff about the Nazis and the occult

Weren't we talking about a new Wolfenstein in another thread a while back?  I remember commenting on it, but now I can't find it.

Anyway, I am very excited about this.  There's a lot of potential to it.  Plus, I know we were oversaturated with WWII shooters for a while, but now they're much more rare.

The last Wolfenstein game was decent, but was missing something to make it really good.

Mindlessly mowing down Nazis is always good in my book (well, Turning Point sucked, but you know what I mean).

naw, if they had touched Disney he probably would have been even more outraged, but I image he'd be fine letting them use Warner Bros. for this one. to 'make it different'.

Interesting

Quote
Wolfenstein: The New Order will be an exclusively single-player experience, developer MachineGames revealed to GameSpot.

This makes it the first non-mobile Wolfenstein game to not have multiplayer in over two decades. Multiplayer was introduced to the series in 2001's Return to Castle Wolfenstein and was featured in later titles such as 2003's Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory and 2009's Wolfenstein.

So why no multiplayer this time? The Q4 2013 release sounds early in the next gen's launch, so is it being rushed out as a launch title or is there more to the story? Maybe it's a much more narrative-focused game. That might sound unlikely given its blockheaded source material, but the ex-Starbreeze staff at MachineGames managed to spin an a surprisingly engaging yarn out of the forgetable Riddick license. Plus multiplayer was never really Starbreeze's forte anyway.

"Anyone who had the misfortune to try the online gameplay for The Darkness will know that this is not an area where Starbreeze has traditionally excelled," said Dan Whitehead in his The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena review where he added, "The multiplayer feels as though it was included through obligation rather than inspiration, and contributes little of value."

We've contacted Bethesda about this and will update as we hear back.

Good point about Starbreeze's background and Riddick.   Who thought they would take that license and make one of the best games of last generation?

The Metacritic isn't very high, around 78-79, but reading Ron's review and also watching the Polygon video review makes me want the game. I'm intrigued by the story, characters, and setting, moreso than the gameplay. Not that the gameplay looks bad or anything, but it's a first-person shooter which is nothing to get excited about.

I just finished a 3 hours long session on the highest difficulty level (Über), and only just got out of the opening level. Gathered everything except one piece of concept art.

The game is really, really enjoyable so far, and the storytelling is superb. It's the kind of cheese that takes itself seriously and actually works. The setting and the characters are outrageous, but the darkness of the setting is handled with real gravitas.

Looking forward to playing more tomorrow.

Got it for the PS4, btw.

I"m glad to hear this one turned out to be enjoyable.  It definitely could have turned out otherwise.

If I didn't have a couple other games coming next week (Watch Dogs, Mario Kart Cool I would probably pick it up, but for now I think I'll wait for a sale on the PC version.

Wow, what a turnaround. I guess they seriously improved it since I tried it last, but I knew back then all it would take is numbers tweaking.

Will probably pick this up, still waiting for a sale or price drop though, since I don't have that much time to game.

I'm having a lot of fun with it.   It's pretty much designed to be able to played as either a stealth game, a cover shooter, or run&gun.   There's also no penalty really for mixing and matching the three play styles, which is pretty much what I've been doing.

I played through the intro segment... or at least part of it. And then the game said it ran out of content and that I need to wait for it to install (this was a digital purchase, obviously). There was nothing in the dashboard that indicated the game was still in the process of installing, but there's no way for me to continue playing right now. Whatever it's doing I hope it's done tomorrow night when I try play again.

yeah, the play now functionality is a bit off, but it's really a limitation of the game and the implementation from Sony's side (they need to improve the visibility of how much data has been downloaded).  either the estimate of how much is downloaded before playing needs to be tweaked or let the devs set the requirements so you don't end up with disappointed players.

I did this with Infamous and the game let me play until Seattle, literally up to the doorsteps.  I should have made a screen cap to see how much of the world was actually present or just hidden away.  That section is about 30 minutes so it wasn't as bad as what you and the Forbes guy experienced.

I booted the game this morning and it appeared that the download/install process completed over night. Or at least there's more content then there was before. I don't mind dealing with the growing pains of this process with Sony, I'll never buy a physical copy of a game again.

That's good, makes up for the low res textures. Or whatever it is that's making the game look so last-gen.

It looks fine, it's no showcase, but it's not terrible either.  Probably around PC Rage (minus the weird texture pop-in that had.)

It's not a graphical showpiece, but it's clear that the focus here was on creating a perfectly smooth shooter experience on all platforms (including last-gen, which as far as I'm aware also runs at 60 fps), so it makes sense. As far as I know, there's very little difference between the PC, PS4 and Xbox One versions. The PC may have a few more bells and whistles as usual. The PS4 version looks slightly better than the Xbox One version, but it's mostly subtle stuff like depth of field on your weapons, and things like that.

The game has very good animations, both for faces and bodies, for what it's worth.

Second evening of playing this game. Reached level 4 at last, but have at least managed to gather all the collectibles (except for the very first piece of concept art) in the levels I've been through. I had heard that the game was 9 chapters long, and that's what you see on the chapter select screen. Until you scroll down.

The grand total is 16 chapters. I've barely started, apparently. This game is long. I'm sure a lot of it is caused by playing on Über (the highest difficulty out of 5) and being very thorough about collectibles, but this game appears to provide a lot of value for money.
