I had my PS3 repaired a couple months ago, but it's died again. My 360 is also dying a slow death and it needs replacing.
After deliberating with the wife, i've been given the green light to buy a new PS3 and 360. This being Memorial Weekend, i was hoping someone would have some type of special for either of these system. However, i haven't seen much.
Does anyone know of any up and coming sales/deals/extra goodies/etc? If not, where is the suggestion to purchase new consoles?

I'd wait until after E3 and see if either MS or Sony announce a price drop.

Just found out that Best Buy has the 250 gb 360 on sale for $299 and you get a $50 bb gift card as well. The standard price for the unit is pretty much locked at $299 every where so gift cards and such are generally the only way youll get a break unless you want used or refurbed
edited to add: the Best Buy deal starts the 29th.

most places have price guarantees - if the price changes in the next 30 days or so you will get the difference - that way you can buy today and take advantage of the savings post E3. Given today's date - you are well within the 30day price guarantee. (meaning that E3 is June 7-9th this year)

Surely one of them will have a price drop. This is your best bet.

The ad is out this morning and sure enough the 250g 360 has the $50 gift card with purchase. Definitely buying this and will use the gift card on a COD PS3 Bundle coming out next Tuesday.
Quick question, should i purchase the Best Buy insurance with these systems? Is it worth it and how much does it cost?

Don't purchase the insurance imo, manufacturer warranty should be plenty here.

Ok, got a new 250gb 360. Bought and reserved the CoD PS3 due out Tuesday.
Got a $50 gift card buying the 360 i then applied to the PS3 purchase. I also opened a Best Buy account and got $20 gift card for that and then will get about $15 rewards coupon i can use to pay towards the bill. I had all intentions of paying cash for both of them, so i got an extra $35 i didn't anticipate. So after all said, $85 off the PS3.
As for the new 360....LOVE IT. Black is so much nicer sitting on our tv stand than the old white one. Nice and quiet and sleak. Really looking forward to the PS3 coming this week too.

it all depends on the cost and how they handle it. when gamestop was offering insurance on the 360's it was a good deal since you'd just take it in to the nearest store and swap it out for an new one, as oopsed to having to ship it back and then waiting for a new or refurbished one being sent back to you, of course if you can live without your system for a week or more then the manufacturers warranty should be fine.

Spoke to the store manager directly and told me with the warranty it's a fresh exchange of a new system. Might be a sucker but i bought warranties for both. With the extra $85 i made, that paid for the 360 warranty right there. More than content and my mind can rest at ease.
