The only tie is between Wing Commander and Dungeon Keeper, each with 7 votes.  Dungeon Keeper held the lead until Wing Commander made a late comeback to tie.  Anyone who did not vote for one of these two games can cast a vote with this ballot (I will check to see if you voted earlier). If there is still a tie, then I will do a coin toss.  All other games from Part 1 are closed to voting.

I admit that some of the choices were strange, but I'm not going to discriminate.  If a game was nominated, I put it in.  It's not my fault if it gets completely destroyed.  Just wait until the later rounds, when some of the oddballs are out, and a lot of choices will be as tough or tougher than Everquest vs. Civilization 2.  Some of the potential finalists: Half-Life vs. Deus Ex or Starcraft vs. Warcraft II or Morrowind vs. Baldur's Gate 2.  Just you wait, the tough stuff is yet to come.

It seems to me that in the early rounds the seedings should be more uneven.  I mean, Starcraft vs. Jedi Knight vs. Ultima V is brutal.  No matter what happens two all time classics are going to be instantly eliminated in the first round.

Also, Mail Order Monsters was a pretty damn cool game.  I know I know, Master of Magic is the greatest game in the history of the universe and all who say otherwise are complete morons who are not worthy to traverse the earth, but the other MoM was remarkably ahead of its time.  Gameplay doesn't hold up but I give it points for being a sort of trailblazer (too bad there was practically no internet multiplayer back in 1985).

It seems to me that in the early rounds the seedings should be more uneven. I mean, Starcraft vs. Jedi Knight vs. Ultima V is brutal. No matter what happens two all time classics are going to be instantly eliminated in the first round.

I set up the brackets in semi-random fashion.  I took the first nominee against the last and put it on one side then the 2nd against the 2nd to last on the other side an so on.  Making it truly random was more effort than I felt like putting in.  Then since there were more than 128 games, I put the extras in wherever I happened to point to, with 4 on the left and 3 on the right, each fairly evenly distributed in the vertical sense.

The time when a game gets eliminated doesn't necesarily indicate it's quality.  Some games will get hard matchups and lose in the first round and other, slightly lower quality games will get easy matchups and move on.  For example, Dungeon Keeper, an excellent game that was innovative appears like it will lose to Wing Commander.  But, Outlaws, a game I've never even heard of before, beat Longbow 2, which only got 2 votes.  But that's the way the brackets turned out.

Round 1 Part 1 was in the original thread.  I started it late at night and in my sleepy state never considered making a new thread until someone suggested it.  That's why I've done that for this round and all future rounds.  No, I'm not CSL.  I decided to take over this thing after CSL abandoned it and apparently this site as well, and since no one else was stepping up.

I thought I was a pretty experienced gamer, and in a lot of those pairs I've played one of the games, but only seldom have I played both.  I'm ashamed.    So much passing...     Also, Pirates! vs. KotOR was pure evil.

Hey man I loved that game.  Had sessions that were HOURS long playing multiplayer.   But it was against freepspace 2... tough call for me.  Could've gone either way.. I shoulda' abstained...  *sob*
