I have came back to PC gaming after more than 10 years away. I got sick of my quest to have the best hardware and console gaming just kept getting better. Anyway, I jumped back in to play some of the more interesting pc games I have seen. I decided to just go with what I considered a mid-range laptop that should be fine for most stuff. I got a MSI quadcore with a 2gig 660 Geforce.
A lot has changed since I left. I see the default resolution now seems to be 1920x1080. I am curious if most games will play fine for me in that resolution or is is still a game of having to drop resolution down to play better games at acceptable framerates. I have seen recent benchmarks here and there but do not know what high and ultra and all those terms mean anymore.
I will say that the big cross platform games ie Bioshock, Tomb Raider etc that I will continue to play those on the consoles as I still prefer a comfy couch and big tv. For all other stuff, I am just curious if I should be fine or if I will still be playing with graphic card settings.

I don't know much about laptop gaming but a lot of the indie, more interesting games and new non aaa titles should be fine anyways as they arent always about graphics, lots of great stuff out there from the last 10 years as well.

I'm going to be waiting until at least a full year after the next gen consoles come out before upgrading my laptop. I love the fact that my 2010 laptop still plays all the latest games.
