Just played it for about 20 minutes or so and so far I am disappointed. The camera is HORRIBLE, laughably bad, and puts your frequently in situations where you're getting hit from in front and don't see anything. The graphics, particularly the ship models, are sorely lacking, and the non-3Dness of the game makes for constant turning in dogfights, with little real feel for the ship. Single player is definitely gonna be a yawner also, the camera again makes  it hard to see your enemies.

Also wanted to add that the two Live games I played were quite laggy.

I'm not too impressed so far.

So you played it too huh? Wow, I mean, how can they possibly screw up something as great as BSG space combat? Seems like it's a sure fire home run, but this game, sheesh, it is not very good at all. Maybe it will grow on me but at this point, I think I want my 10 bucks back, lol.

No, I haven't played it,  but everything I have read about it pointed to disappointment.

Yeah, this seemed like it would be in league with the crappy Wing Commander game.  It feels very similar, in fact.

I'm surprised you payed for it out of the gate.  Just a little trial play time convinced me my instincts were right.  Too bad, because this could be an incredible franchise. 

Frankly, I never understood why they went the XBLA route instead of releasing a whole game.  Maybe testing the waters.

BTW, Exit is a better game than this.

Sounds just like Wing Commander and the XBLA 'version' of it.

The problem is that there's way too many people who'll buy games based on name alone. Bonus chance as well based on the name being really popular 10 years or more ago.

the previous BSG game left a bad taste in my mouth so I didn't have high hopes for this one.  at least I don't have to even bother with the demo now.

I played the demo. They did an alright job with the battlestar galactica flavor. It has the show's look to it. The viper shoot aspect is alright but the perspective really sucked. Its not head on and its not directly overheard so its difficult to sight enemies. It looks like their are just canned missions and mulitplayer which wasn't too impressive. I would have liked a dynamic campaign mode where you are being hunted by the cyclons or hunting them with the random events included. Maybe I will give it some more time tonight on the demo before I punt.

Totally different developers based on different shows (the first game came out before the new, brilliant series even existed).

I don't understand why you would ever buy an XBLA game without trying the demo.  It's not like you have to download it a second time if you decide to buy it.

I think his point was, though, that you didn't have to spend your money to save ours.  We would have all tried the demo and not paid.  You should have done the same.

is there any fun to be had here outside of the "thrill" of playing through the first two season's major battles?  this looks pretty shallow and if they had attempted to charge full price for this, they would have been laughed at out of the gate.

Honestly? Can't really say there is much there, so no, the "fun" is minimal at best. I may never play the game again if that says anything.

Eh, I did the same thing with Speedball 2... one of those games that didn't live up to my memories...
