How does the game perfrom and look on 360 or PS3? Which version is the recommended one to get? I bought it for PC, but for some reason, as I get older, my hand shakes uncontrollably when I am shooting people, so I can barely play.
I try to limit my time playing FPS games on the PC because it's easy for me to get some sort of repetitive stress or carpal whatever uncomfortable feelings. The 360 controller is just much more ergonomic, and it gives my thumbs a workout rather than my fingers and wrists which get abused all day on my work mouse & keyboard. Anyhow, Battlefield 3 looks awesome on the 360. Sure, it doesn't look as good as it can on the PC, but there's sort of an out of sight out of mind aspect at play. I've just been playing the 360 version and it looks great, and since I'm not doing a side by side comparison I don't know what I'm missing on the PC. If I switched back and forth between the two platforms maybe I'd turn my nose up at the 360 graphics more, but then again, every time I see people posting about keybinding issues, video driver issues, and other assorted PC-specific problems, I become more glad that I stuck with the 360 for this. I've just lost my patience for all that.

Switching to MW3 on 360 from BF3 on 360 is night and day FWIW. COD just doesn't look very good. I think it's fairly obvious that BF3 with the texture pack is a far superior way to do it.

COD is 60fps though, which I do like a lot. Big difference from 30fps.

Well, I broke down and bought the 360 version. I tried playing on PC again and my hand shakes pretty much made me quit for good. I have never played FPS on consoles, except for a few rounds of Halo 3 a while back so I was worried about my aiming. Surprisingly, I am doing well. I noticed though I play differently than a lot of people. The PC play style is definitely different than the general console play style, and I get the drop on people a lot. It seems console players in general are more reckless. I am actually getting better scores than I did on PC (mostly due to no hand shake). I just can't drive a tank at all on console. It feels so awkward.
As far a graphics go, yeah, it looks better on PC, but I don't notice most of the time. The 360 graphics are definitely good enough to keep me from missing the PC visuals.

Try the alternate control scheme; I find it much better. Go/stop is on the left trigger buttons, and you can fire and gadget on the right triggers.

I was planning to skip BF3 altogether, especially with having to choose between MW3 and BF3 (went with MW3), but a close friend has been raving about BF3 and really wants to get me into the mix, so it looks like I may be joining the BF3 squad as well. It's not that I'm against playing BF3, I just had to make a choice and went with the series I'm most familiar with and know I enjoy. But if I get to play both, all the better.
So perhaps you will see me on the battlefield sometime soon (at least by Christmas).

I don't see why they have to be mutually exclusive or why people would be unable to balance time between both as they have different play styles and objective requirements. While I love COD, I can't play all COD all the time. Although I guess you're right as Hark has already moved on to MW3 and it isn't even out yet.

In Hark's defense he did say he was going to keep BF3 because the BF games age well, but I don't have much hope for there being a big crew once MW3 is released to the masses. The Back to Karkland map pack doesn't even come out until Dec. I think maybe DICE should have gotten it out sooner.

I'm finding myself caught between the two titles as well. I'm really liking BF3 a lot, especially now that I have most of the main gadgets unlocked. I'm also really intrigued by a lot of the changes to CoD.
I'll probably end up keeping both and switching depending on what mood I'm in.

I'll be playing BF3 for a long time. Not super interested in MW3, and there are several other games I am interested coming out this month that I would rather spend money on.

I'm just now starting to get competent in bf3, but I won't even be able to play it that much again until Tuesday, which is COD day. I'll play both, but I'll focus on whichever one has more people from my friends list on it. Right now that's looking like COD.

Oh, so I finished up the single-player in advance of COD. Not too bad, not great, and it was surprisingly difficult on normal. The sound and the gun feel goes a long way. I don't suppose anyone can explain why

I don't suppose anyone can explain why I thought the single player was ok, but felt like all of the big moments were duplicates from previous call of duty games. The final level was exciting though. I will give them that. I do think the difficulty on normal was a little too high.

I saw a new hack with the tank tonight. If you can flip the tank over on an angled road, the turret goes under the map and you can see everything. The tank does take damage for being upside down, but someone was repairing it the whole time. They somehow had the tank pinned against the wall at an anglel, so the guy making repairs was under cover. Tank wouldnt blow up.
I'll try to find a video.
edit: kind of like this

yes, but that was solely to boost xp from the repairs, this is doing that AND actively hurting other players. double bad

From the BF facebook page:
Heads up Xbox 360 Battlefield 3 players – Microsoft will be releasing an update for you to download on Nov 22 at 2:00 AM PST. This update does not relate to Battlefield 3 and will not change your in-game experience.
The Battlefield 3 client-side patch for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 will be released at a later date.

And of course, if you try to play online, it won't d/l it. So the only option is to go enjoy some SP experience (or play SWTOR) while it downloads.

I'm playing on the PC, but to me these new maps are just much better and "more Battlefield" than the normal BF3 maps. Which makes sense I guess, since they are improved versions of older maps.
