Nice playing with you guys again, kepow & crew.  Sorry about the no-mic (sleeping house) and the abrupt departure (server started rubberbanding bad and it was past my bedtime).

Definitely fun, feel free to join anytime.

I'm guessing MW3 is going to have server lag first week too.

Tried to sneak in a round this morning but the servers were all down.  Looks like they did maintenance overnight to up the capacity (yay), and broke something in the process (boo).

MW3 doesnt' have dedicated servers, so I'm not even sure what you're saying.  MW3 will always have a chance for lag because one of the players is always the server.  BF3 has EA/DICE dedicated servers, which is why there is no reason they should be so laggy.  Not like they can't afford them.  Odds of lag are actually lower during a COD release since with more people playing the odds of it picking a host with higher quality internet is higher.  As fewer people keep playing, the pool of decent hosts shrinks and you end up with bad and worse choices to host games.

Just looked at my stats again and realized something a bit odd.  My destroy vehicle stat is really high compared to people with similar playtime/kills.  That alone isn't too odd, but when you look at classes played is when it seems a bit unusual.  I spend most of my time as Recon, the only class that can't destroy vehicles.

yes, and in tanks.  I know where the stat comes from, I was just pointing out the odd correlation between only class with no vehicle destruction capability and high destruction number.  More of an interesting tidbit than a true wonderment.  ninja

I'm curious as to why you would spawn Recon if you are going to get into a tank?  Wouldn't you want to spawn Engineer so you could repair?  Or do you spawn Recon and find a vehicle and then just go joyride?

I spawn as recon typically for the respawn beacon.  dont' even usually grab the sniper rifle, prefer the UMP or shotgun.  I think most of my vehicle kills are from jets.

Haha, yeah, I played a bunch of TDM the other night and was amazed how many times I spawned about 5 feet from an enemy's back.

And how about quitting from the lobby? Will this finally be the year?

I'm saying the first few days of a huge bigtime MP game is always going to be laggy.  Black Ops certainly was.

Pretty sure MW2 too, although it's been a while.

odd, I dont' recall any more lag at launch on the COD's compared to after.  There were some connection issues, especially at XMas time where LIVE goes down regularly, but in-game lag isn't determined by the player load.  It's just not how the system works.  The Matchmaking and stat servers are the only thing that could be impacted by the number of players in a player server model.

The problems I remember from CoD launches are trouble keeping a squad united when joining a server, having the server type be the one you actually asked to join, and just plain being able to connect to a game other than a private match.

same, which are all connection issues since that's where high player traffic can gum it up.

I don't know what the technical reasons are, and that's totally irrelevant anyway (why does it matter to the end user?).  All I know is that the first couple days of Black Ops MP, there were definitely problems and abnormalities.

When you say Black Ops lag, you mean people rubberbanding around and shots not hitting what they're supposed to be hitting (beyond what is just the standard discrepancy?)

I don't remember exactly, but I definitely do remember that MP was borked and things were not working 100% right.  Joining servers and parties, etc, like you said.  And yes I thought even after finally joining a server, sometimes it would still be messed up when firing guns or running around.  No, I don't have video proof but I still consider it irrelevant cause the bottom line is MP was messed up at first.

We'll see with MW3 if there are any MP abnormalities the first day or not.  I'm guessing yes.

the more I play with pick up groups, the more I'm reminded how little I enjoy playing with strangers who have no sense of teamwork.  it's bad enough when I go to the squad spawn and each member is around a different objective.  just as likely to get picked off as soon as I spawn in due to Rambo going alone.  the alternative is to spawn at base and get a fruitless 5 minute run back the action because every fucknut with a lead foot doesn't bother to wait for friendlies.  hey asshole, I'm playing an engie for a reason, and it isn't to simply get anti-vehicle kills.

even though I have been at the top 3rd of the team and have managed to hold an objective against larger numbers, I haven't been on the winning team since playing with fellow GT'ers.  I think I'll just jump servers more often until I can find a squad worth a damn.

This is where party chat can be a bit of a detriment to the game.  If people had to talk to each other instead of their own groups, we'd probably see more teamwork overall.  Granted there are still tons and tons of idiots playing though.

This was one of the most odd matches I've had.  I did well, got crazy number of ribbons (24! new record), but we got our asses kicked.  Jarrod tore it up as well.

This map is all about holding B and never letting them past.  Problem is that people dont' do that.  Once they cap B they just keep creeping towards the third point which weakens the defense until the enemy can get through.

Yeah, we were all over the place on that one. I think I took all 3 flags at least once. Probably would have gotten more kills as support, but, I was having fun healing/reviving and getting assault points.

Had a great, great round with Assault last night on Seine Crossing.  The record shows me going 27-16, but maybe half of those deaths were from dying immediately after spawning so most of the match felt much better than that.  Went with the 870 shotgun and flashlight 1911 for the first half, unlocked the underslung grenade launcher, and then was amazed at how good the underslung grenade launcher is.  Why am I not getting killed by this thing left and right?  It's awesome!  And it has a ridiculous amount of ammo.  You can equip it near-instantly with a rail-equipped AR, and it destroys cover just as well as an RPG.

This video shows a method for netting 5000 points in co-op in about a minute and a half.  I guess I might go ahead and try this to grind out the co-op weapons.

Do co-op points increase your MP rank or is only for the co-op unlocks that you can use in MP?

Unlocks MP weapons that cannot be gained any other way.

How does the game perfrom and look on 360 or PS3? Which version is the recommended one to get?  I bought it for PC, but for some reason, as I get older, my hand shakes uncontrollably when I am shooting people, so I can barely play.  I have only had this problem for a couple of years, but it has killed my enjoyment of FPS games.  (I am only 33, so I shouldn't be getting the hand shakes, but I do, even when not playing games)  So, I am debating dropping another $60 bucks so I can play it since the shakes don't affect me on console controllers.  I just can't aim on consoles after years of FPS playing on PC, so I'll need some practice.

Looks great for a console game, but nowhere near a top of the line PC.
