So Battlefield 3 is one the way and Game Informer has it on the cover.

I am certainly looking forward to it.  Supposedly there is a new trailer being released tomorrow on battlefield.com!

Interesting, they're using deferred rendering, a tech behind Killzone 2's look which is great at having a lot of dynamic lights. A few other games have used the technique as well.

If they pay off on the whole destructibility thing, it could go well.

i just saw that the release date is Autumn 2011...well,why not everything else is out then(Mass Effect 3,Call of Duty whatever,Batman Arkham City,Skyrim,Forza 4,Gears 3..are the games i can think of at the top of my head)

Be aware that the console version is 24 players, while the PC version is 64 players.

I *really* hope they have remade the maps for this, instead of just using a cut-off version of the maps.

Personally, I'll probably get both, but I favor the 64 version any day.

i am in for 24 players actually,i used to play COD on PC a lot,and those(50-64 etc) kind of numbers were usual and it was always just a mess...i have always favoured 24/32 players ...same with Black Hawk Down for the Xbox 1 with 50 players,i just didn't like it,i can't imagine for example the BFBC2 maps with more players,it would just get ridiculous

What little they show looks good.

The deferred renderer gives the lighting a little bit of a Killzone feel with so many dynamic lights around, but that can be a good thing if done well. Will be nice to see that tech on a high end PC instead of a console.

Well, the CoD maps were mostly NOT made for that number of players, but they just yanked up the number of players being able to be on the map.  Did you try BF2 on the pc? The great thing about it were the squads and the commander part, where you could REALLY make a difference. The maps were big enough that it made sense to make squads in differenat areas and bottlenecks of the maps, to keep control

I don't think it was pre-rendered.  it may be the PC version with the highest settings though

Battlefield 3 physical warfare pack revealed

EA has taken the wraps off the UK limited edition of Battlefield 3, which it has dubbed the 'Physical Warfare Pack'.

Available now for pre-order at GAME and Gamestation, it aims to tempt buyers with launch day exclusive weapons and items.

These include the "Type 88 light machine gun with bipod for superior firepower and total zone control, the SKS sniper rifle flash suppressor that provides increased stealth abilities for Recon soldiers, and the lethal armour-piercing flechette ammo for the DAO-12 semi-automatic shotgun that is sure to tear through anything in its path.

"Also included is day one access to the highly versatile DAO-12 semi-automatic shotgun itself," plus the Back to Karkand map pack.

The tank battle image from "BATTLEFIELD 3" is brilliant! It is the best I have ever seen in the last five years. "DICE" is great.

If "COD MW3" is a Hollywood-ish action play, "BF3" is more like documentary. While play-related rail games are the mainstream after the success of "COD" and "Uncharted", this stoic attitude is fresh.

Call of what?  Battlefield is my master now.

Just found some new E3 videos and developer walkthroughs and I'm with Hadron: this looks phenomenal.  Call of Duty: This Year's Call of Duty will have to do something incredible to pull me away from BF3.  (as long as BF3 doesn't screw up map design, matchmaking, weapon balance, vehicle balance, rebalancing teams, migrating players, online latency... did I miss anything?  Oh: class balance, map quantity, engine exploits, griefing...)
