IF I were in the alpha, I'd probably say the game looks gorgorous, but that currently the gameplay is more or less Call of dutyish... Since its still alpha, a lot can change of course, but the map I'd supposedly then would be playing, would be really small and cramped, and not the big big landscapes one got used to in BF2.

Were there jets in BF2? (I didn't play it). I'm curious if they fly like jets or they are more like the prop planes from BF1943 with jet skins. Seems if they flew as fast as jets you'd have to have much larger maps.

yeah, there were jets there. Maps were pretty huge on the PC and the 64 player games. Game maps size increased with number of players in 3 set intervals, so since the console versions don't have 64 player maps, I think it will be...interesting to fly them there.

I guess it just wouldn't be a new Battlefield game if it didn't have a retarded server browser and dumb interface.  Despite making awesome games, DICE seems to always make some dumb decisions when it comes to PC interfaces.

Hopefully we get a "real" solution sometime soon, though I doubt it.

Apparently you can use a secret code to get into servers playing the Caspian Border map.  It may or may not be a buggier experience than the default map: reports vary.

Current password is Appletini, but it keeps changing.

tried firing up the beta last night and it kept giving me some error on the launch web page; I'm guessing they were getting hammered.

looking forward to seeing how this runs; it's supposed to be a VRAM hog and my card only has 1 gig, so since I'm looking to upgrade my vid cards for this, Rage and Skyrim it'll be a good test to see how they stand up.

I believe I've read that even though you can set it to Ultra, you aren't actually running in Ultra settings since those are disabled in the beta.

yeah, now it's finding them.  it's insisting I upgrade from a video card driver I've been finding very stable though; won't let me play if I don't

so I bit the bullet and upgraded my drivers-  figure these cards should be retired in a couple of days so I won't have to worry about looking for major issues.  game is nice looking (bumped everything up as far as it could go except motion blur, which went bye-bye), wish it wouldn't let your teammates blind you with the flashlight though.

I tried it last night for a few rounds and I found out that I completely suck at FPS now.

There are some glaring bugs, like the weirdly looking prone bug sometimes and I got stuck on the ground once while in prone. But overall, it's a fun game, that is if I can stay alive long enough to kill anyone and get my K/D ratio above 1, lol.

The tac light is VERY annoying, though useful for the person wielding it, I can't see them to target them.

Surprisingly, I found a pretty decent number of beta servers in Singapore, so I can have a decent ping (roughly 100, give or take), not ideal but beats 300 pings any day.

I think I'll be pre-ordering this one, maybe after the beta is over.

Really?  Battlefield, more than almost any other game, strikes me as one with a superfluous single player campaign.  It feels like lamenting the lack of single player in Counterstrike.

yes really, while plast BF games were horrible in the sp front, pretty much non-existent, the bad company 2 game had a fun sp portion, and it looked like BF3 was going to follow suit as well as having their staple multiplayer options.  BF3 multiplayer feels like Bad Company 2 and Medal of honor (the most recent one) and it's just a sniper camp.  No fun at all.  So what was once a must buy for me, is now going to be a must buy for Call of Duty.

My favorite sniper moment occurred in Joint Operations.  I was playing a sniper class and I was resting on top of a hill.  In that series, you had to adjust your sniper rifle in a realistic manner (adjust for wind, etc.).  It was quite cool.  Anyway, I was sitting up there on that hill, making adjustments and I started using a tree that was slanted and sitting near a range of hills as my point of focus.  Finally, after making my adjustments, I popped off a shot to see where it hit through my scope.  I aimed at the tree and fired.  A millisecond later, another player's body fell out of the tree.  Apparently, he had found a way to jump from the lowest portion of the hill onto the tree and the game let him sit up there in almost complete cover.  Talk about lucky shots.

still on the fence about this.  looks like pre-loading starts today from some eTailers, and I can get it for under 50 bucks off of D2D (missed the bigger discount on Amazon  ) but I'm debating how much time I'll actually get with this-  last MP game I picked up didn't get much playtime at all (looks at RO2) so I'm leaning towards skipping it until after the holidays. and seeing how the online community is then.
