So is it looking like this is gonna be a hit here?  I loooooooooved BF1942 and the expansions.  I am certainly interested in this one as well.  Nothing finer than playing XBL games with GTers.

You know what I really like in that picture? The "Return to game library" option...I HATE that you leave PS3 games by doing what to seems like a reset and enters the clunky (due to the game running in the background) "quit game" option by pressing the playstation button. I dont understand why games dont have a "Quit game" option..they should, and they should do what Masters of Orion 2 did as well, have a little "thank you for playing box" when you do so...loved that, its just so..polite

i think all arcade titles have that on the 360,i know normal games on the 360 i usually save my game and then press the guide button and press Y for the dashboard...seems fine,instead of getting up to take the disc out,because not always do i want to play another game

PS3 however i can't really say about the arcade games...the few arcade games i have got from PSN were quite a while ago(Tekken/Warhawk/Calling all cars)..so i really can't remember how it is for them...full priced game,i think i just save my game and then eject the disc...i don't think i really got usedd to the quit game thing on that for some reason

Announcement on Major Nelson. From a few of the comments it looks like they have some early lag and other problems, probably not much of a surprise. I might hold off for a while till the GT community gives it a clean bill of health.

I'm probably going to do that too, plus there's an anime series I want to watch (Ghost in the Shell: SAG) on Netflix watch it now that's listed as only being available through the 14th so my 360 will be busy with that anyways.

Yep. Seems to happen with every 'major' MP release. If there was an easy way to prevent it I'm sure they would have at this point....also, I don't get why such a thing happens on the 360 network since it's all hosted by the gamers anyway right?

They say its a "Dataserver" lag thingie, and not the server (Which is DICE's) nor the game

I think this game is coming out at the perfect time for me. The GF is heading out of town today for the rest of the week. I was planning on renting Ghostbusters, but if this is going to have a group of players every night, I'll probably get this instead if I enjoy the demo. I tried to download it this morning, but didn't see anything listed. But I've already gotten invites from Hark, so I know it's available. I'll try again when I get home.

I think it comes out tomorrow for the PS3, it's just that since it's MP only, I suspect the vast majority will be buying it for the 360.

been playing all morning

the lag was really bad first thing, and i couldn't get in a room that wasn't laggy...and then that BF1943 twitter said they were aware of it,and it has now settled down somewhat a hour or so later

i do though still have problems trying to connect 50% of the time...hopefully they can improve,but EA servers aren't always the best anyway-no matter what they say,i also lose connection during games as well,which is very annoying

 

The plane for me was the biggest issue,it took a very long time in the tutorial to get used to the controls,they were terrible IMO,but i have got used to it now,and i was quite happy as i have got 8 achievements out of the possible 12 up to now..and 2 of them were achievements i wasn't looking forward to :

 

the 10 minute in a plane...but its not 10 minutes in one go in one game...it can be 2 minutes in one game and 3 minutes in another etc etc

 

and with that was the other achievement,get 1 kill in a  jeep,tank and plane...the plane still took a while,the jeep i got when i was on the mounted gun,not sure if they include if you run over them in the jeep...i tried doing that to someone and missed,so quickly pressed A and switched to the mounted gun,shot them,and got the achievement

 

 i also go the achievement for being in the best squad...when i didn't even realise i was in a squad,LOL

 

the maps are really good(iwo jima is my favourite)...if EA or whoever can just sort out the problems it will be great

I think he means that the majority of folks on GT seem to have 360's when compared to the PS3 owners.

Anyways, I've been trying to connect for 15 minutes, and it cant find any games, so..will wait a bit till the dust settles..very excited to try it out!

I think it's a little of both really.  Most of the people I know don't use their PS3's for multiplatform games that have MP

Good News, the game is incredibly successful beyond even my expectations. We have reached server capacity, but the bad news about this now some people can't join unless someone leaves. But don't worry, we are adding more servers ASAP to Xbox and in preparation PS3 that should start going up ASAP with priority on Xbox 360.

We have also isolated the issue and improving until we have close to 0 packet loss.

Please keep an eye here for updates.

Update#1: We are adding new servers, this may cause some disconnection from now until 17:30.

Does this one use the EA account crap? I had a problem with Mirror's Edge where my EA account was somehow screwed up and I couldn't connect to the leaderboards at all, but I never had a problem with BF: Bad Company.  I should probably try the demo before I shell out money for it.

i think it does,i set up my account when Timesplitters 3 came out and i havent had a problem,however a friend of mine set his up awhile ago(he played Bad company with us),and he is having EA account difficulties

Could you compare the gameplay to COD4 or CODWaW? Duration of rounds, re-spawn time, things like that? Also, is it one shot one kill, whack 'em forever till they croak or somewhere in-between?

you have infinite ammo

its hard to say about killing people
with a rifle,it was awful i kept getting owned by everyone who didnt have a rifle,even if i was hitting them..so i went to machine gun that isnt like COD where you can spray and prey,there is still some aiming involved,so you dont feel like you just got a cheap kill ....its a shame because i love using a rifle(Gerrand) in all the WWII games,but this one,the shots were just not doing the damage,IMO anyway


respawn time,is better i think than Hardcore COD....about 10 seconds at the most and you will be back in the game


you can choose which flag to spawn at with the right stick before pressing A to spawn(the many times i have done that and spawned miles away from the action)


maps are of course much bigger than the COD games,they have to be with the planes


i do know some explosives have to be dead on....i had a rocket launcher and i hit this guy right next to where he was stood,and nothing happened.....i was in a tank and when i was firing my connon,the guy was just side stepping and then stepping back to hit me with his rocket launcher

explosives seem to do more damage to vehicles than they do to people out of them

you can imagine my cry of BULLSHIT when that happened

As BF:BC was my first BF, I'm looking at it in reverse. Which I guess means I'm going to love 1943. BF:BC is my favorite MP of all time. Wish more people still stuck with it. I really wanted teh 10k kills achievement...
