EurogamerEA will unveil Battlefield Premium, a rival to Activision's Call of Duty Elite subscription service, at its E3 press conference next month, a new report by Battlefieldo claims.
An official reveal is expected on 4th June, the date of EA's annual E3 extravangaza.
"Battlefield Premium will land you a number of content drops with unique in-game items not available anywhere else," a description of the service revealed.
"First out is the one-of-a-kind Premium knife and black dog tag, plus a set of soldier camos, weapon camos, dog tags and Assignments that will make sure you stand out and get more personalization options."
The report also lists a number of other dates for Battlefield content, including word of an as-yet unnanounced fifth expansion.
Upcoming indoor-shooting fest Close Quarters will arrive 12th June, followed by extra "bonus content" in August, third expansion Armored Kill in the autumn and fourth expansion End Game this winter.
The untitled fifth expansion is apparently due to launch in March 2013.

No thanks. Guess I'll get my shooter fix with Max Payne and Ghost Recon.

I don't even have a shooter fix any more, thanks to these games, and particularly thanks to Call of Duty. They've been churning out one uninspired sequel after another to the point where one of my favorite genres (FPS) no longer contains even the slightest spark of joy for me.

I agree with your sentiment towards Call of Duty. I've enjoyed Call of Duty games in the past, but now when I think about it in hindsight....it was 50 percent fun and 50 percent frustration. Add the god damn Elite subscription, which equals them losing me as a customer. There are so many alternatives out there that actually improve their engine, or innovate in some other way like Max Payne, Blacklight Retribution (which is free to play) and Ghost Recon.

it all depends if you buy into DLC...ELITE was actually cheaper to buy than past COD DLC,which is why i don't get most of the hate for Elite
1 map pack usually cost 1200 points(4 maps),Black Ops had 3 map packs(12 maps) and 1 zombie map pack(i dunno another 4 maps) costing 4800 Points altogether(past COD titles before BlOps had at least 3 map packs out for 3600points altogether)
ELITE costs 3200 points, and will have 12 maps by September,as well as New Game Modes and new maps for that game mode as well as Spec Ops missions...and then you have all that online crap, that i never touch(Ridley Scott videos or something)
the only problem was with me that like others MW3 was the COD title i got bored of quickly
also, with this Battlefield one, maybe there will be price battles between the two between EA/Acti...maybe
EDIT:sorry i got that wrong,it was 4000 msp,(at £34 for me 2 lots of 2000 for £17)

Base game is still fun Kato. We can play it this summer if you have time Not intrigued by the close quarters expansion, other than possibly new weapons. Am interested in the armored warfare expansion. Zero interest in their 'elite' setup. MO: My problem with the Elite model is they want my money up front. Before they show me anything concrete. I'd rather potentially spend a little extra money and know what I'm getting. Plus of course the fact that I lost interest in playing MW3 before the first maps dropped anyway.

Im a huge BF fan but I have no interest in this. I've basically shelved BF till the amored focus expansion hits. This first 'close quarters' one makes me yawn. I have no interest in BF "The CoD edition". Thats not what makes the series different.

Yeah, that's my feeling as well. I don't play Battlefield to go to a tiny close quarters map with no vehicles.

well those 20 new maps, include the Back to Karkand map pack, that pretty much everyone should have anyway because i think it was part of the online pass,right?(4 maps) and then some other maps would be for that close quarters game mode(be surprised if that is only 4 maps),which for me is not what i play Battlefield games for,i play for big huge maps etc so,er yeah...i disapprove (doesn't help that it comes 6 months after the actual game gets released, and still paying £40/$50,when no doubt a new Battlefield will probably get announced at E3 for this November )

How could you possibly think a new Battlefield will be coming out in November?

it'd be odd to see them release a new game while still doing DLC for the previous one. End Game isn't due out until this winter, and from the looks of this timeline they've never had an new game released while a old one was still getting content (besides the free to play titles): Battlefield release timeline 2002 Battlefield 1942 2003 Battlefield 1942: The Road to Rome 2003 Battlefield 1942: Secret Weapons of WWII 2004 Battlefield Vietnam 2005 Battlefield 2 2005 Battlefield 2: Special Forces 2005 Battlefield 2: Modern Combat 2006 Battlefield 2: Euro Forces 2006 Battlefield 2: Armored Fury 2006 Battlefield 2142 2007 Battlefield 2142: Northern Strike 2008 Battlefield: Bad Company 2009 Battlefield Heroes 2009 Battlefield 1943 2010 Battlefield: Bad Company 2 2010 Battlefield: Bad Company 2: Vietnam 2010 Battlefield Online 2011 Battlefield Play4Free 2011 Battlefield 3 2011 Battlefield 3: Back to Karkand

That timeline also doesn't have a year where a new BF game is out(well okay, except 2007)
I never knew End Game was not out until Winter
Its just that there are only 5 Expansions there and we have already had one,and Close Quarters will be available when this goes Live on June 4th...so if what you say is true then that means the remaining 3 expansion packs will have to spread out until Winter?(6 months),which is a bit odd and for £40/$50

I'll stick to BF when I need to play a FPS. My skills have degraded so much playing FPS I don't enjoy the frustration anymore. Hence the reason I no longer play many FPS online. I've turned into a co-op type of guy

So you never even read what you quoted from Eurogamer in your OP? Wow.
