same here.  I remember one of the AvP games having a limited battery for the flashlight, which was like 'we can travel the stars but cannot make a battery that lasts longer than a minute?'

One of the reasons I use Detective Vision is the fact that the game is too dark without it. I have maxed out the in-game brightness. I think games that utilizes Unreal engine needs to take into consideration that many people are using LCD monitor. I have the same problem in Gears of War (1) and Bioshock. The art direction are nice but it's terribly dark for me. Detective Vision was god send.

I don't think it's my monitor.. Dragon Age, Mass Effect, GTA IV, RFG looks ok for me. I really think it is palette choice but I do observe that it is more apparent in UT engine.

Uh, yes. You are absolutely correct in that many people are using LCD monitors. In fact, I'd go as far as to say that more than 95% of us (probably more) do. The developers do too.

If the game is too dark for you no matter what you do, it's very likely your specific monitor. Different monitors have different brightness, and most get darker with age.

I agree, but I would find something like a Detective Mode gizmo gobbling up suit-power believable (if not convenient). Bruce Wayne may be a genius industrialist but unless he's found a way to generate power from Darkness, or power it by his own farting (Gas Man! Da da da dad ad ad da Gas Man!), or by a little bat in his pants ("Is that a bat in your pants, or are you just happy to see me?" ) running on a mini treadmill, I'd think his suit could only run fancy pants gadgetry so long.  

Frozenbyte's overhead shooter Shadowgrounds has a similar flashlight limitation. In fact, Wikipedia refers to it as a common "trope" (cliche) in gaming.   http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shadowgrounds

The game is largely dark, and the hero carries a motion scanner and a flashlight with a regenerating but limited power supply (a common gaming trope).

Anyway, I read the guy's interview quotes more as the idea a revamped detective view would be useful but would be more integrated (and not a completely different view) into the regular game view and wouldn't obscure the "normal" character models and artwork so much.

fwiw, while The Batman on Film guy (Jett) said he's skeptical any of these domains have anything to do with Batman 3 the movie (apparently TDK's "whysoserious.com" campaign domain was registered by proxy), he did find the "whereisbrucewayne" one "interesting." I think Bruce Wayne "giving up" his "normal" life in favor of being The Dark Knight 24 hours a day could be interesting though maybe that's a cliche.

a supposedly leaked trailer and a breakdown on how it's most likely a well done fake.  still, there's talk of co-op, and the Joker being playable in challenges was a big seller for Arkham Asylum, and if you couldn't play Batman who else would you want to play?
