Finally had a chance to test out the trial and when I reached the end of the trial I immediately decided to purchase the full game. The narrator even makes a comment at the end of the trial and when you return. I'm completely enthralled with the gameplay, the narrator, the imagery, everything. I can't wait to get back to it after softball tonight. So... are we not supposed to be destroying the "petrified" people? They're already dead and it seems to be the only way to find out who they were. No idea. I was flailing with my hammer when I encountered my first one and obliterated it before I had a chance to realize what it was. It wasn't until after the narrator commented on the person that I realized what I had done.

Put about 90 minutes into this tonight, and while I like it, I certainly don't love it yet. The graphics are amazing and I like the way the story flows through the narrator (although there have been times I've completely missed things he said because I was so involved in combat), but the combat is a little too hectic for my tastes. I haven't quite been able to wrap my head around the 2 weapon + dodge + block + special attacks combination yet, but I'm hoping it'll click soon.
I'll withhold judgement until I've put some more time into it.

I found the best way to approach combat are hit and run tactics. You don't want to go in just swinging away, you'll be surrounded and killed in no time.

Spent nearly 30 minutes going through some sort of multi-wave area (the one where you're recovering memories, or something like that) only to die on the very last wave (out of 20) after being mauled by 4-5 of those spinning hammer dudes at once.
Think that was the straw that broke this gamers back with Bastion, and I doubt I'll be going back to it...simply too frustrating for me. I only sort of liked it before, and I certainly don't like it enough to spend another 30 minutes on nonsense like that.

use grenades man and either the musket or repeater. I dunno, the hardest part was me running out of floor lol. Did you get the extra hp pot upgrade? Helps a lot in there too.

Wait, are you talking about when you smoke the pipe in Bastion itself? That's just a challenge area. It's meant to be hard. You get on the leaderboard by doing that challenge with god handicaps invoked. Unless I'm mistaken, it is completely optional.

This game to me is classic 2D Zelda but without the puzzles and more in-depth weapons.

Given the frustration level, that's probably a good thing. Regardless, I'm not really feeling the love for Bastion...glad others are enjoying it though.

Oh I see-I thought people had complained about the 360 controls. Perhaps that was From Dust that I was thinking about.

Yeah, From Dust is the one that I think the PC controls will be much better on since you will have better accuracy with the mouse.

Just finished this on pc - What a lovely game... The setting, the narrating, the concept, and the music (Sweet, sweet Zia's song is simply brilliant), and the stuff that happens between the lines of what the narrator's saying.
The choices you have to make really made me think - and my final encounter with Zulf was just...awesome, simply brilliant.
Btw, am I the only one who thinks the narrator really is a horrible person?
edit: I've been listening to the three songs in the game all morning, really cool!

This comes out tomorrow (Aug 30th) for the iPad. At $5 I don't think I can pass it up considering the positive reviews it has gotten!
