yeah, it's worth $10, but good luck finding anything at Best Buy - just checked two of them, and almost all of the clearance titles were gone... not recently picked off, simply not in stock.

Same story as Laner here.  It's not that my Best Buy had sold out, it's that they literally had none of the clerance titles in stock.

If you do end up going, ATB, I'd really appreciate it if you could pick me up a copy of Growlanser Generations, which is also $10 in this sale (assuming your BB has a copy).  I'd make it worth your while.

Yes, its a great hack'n'slash for 10. smile   I like the party system in Bard's Tale.  Using your summoned creatures to cover your weak spots was a great idea.

Actually, I checked the website first and found that Growlanser and Ys:AoN were both listed as 'sold out'.  I was thinking of picking these up too.

I need to go to the BB near here too-with a printed out list-some of these deals rock.

Rats.  I'd certainly find room on my shelf for Ys and Growlanser, but all the local stores are sold out.

Heh, my stores all list them being in stock.  None of them actually are, however.  Nor have they been for months.

Wow, my local stores don't even list them as being in stock.  I went to one yesterday to scope out the loot, but didn't find them.  I don't expect to see them in the others.

Not like Best Buy would be above that, but you have to realize, this sale isn't advertised.  It's just a price drop.

At CAG, everything is called "bait and switch" whenever someone can't get in on a deal.  Yikes.

No kidding... this isn't a bait and switch if you can purchase the item in question (and you can in some cases).  These deals are loss leaders, perhaps.  But the simplest explanation is that they indeed want to clear out old stock, and as such not all titles will be available at all stores.

Growlancer is a steal at $10!  Plus, I'd really like to add Y's to my shelf and for $10 oh man!  Sadly these are all way gone at my local Best Buy.  I'd be happy if EB lowered their price on it from $36 pre-played. frown

I picked up Bard's Tale for $8 used, and I'm enjoying it a lot more than I thought I would.  I usually don't like difficult games, but here the difficulty makes the game more fun.  Having to time your blocks makes melee combat much more interesting than in the Dark Alliance-type games.

You know, I've only been here a little while, and yet I expected this.  slywink

Though, I must admit that Ys is a niche title for people like me who are a little too nostalgic and are fine with a game that is nothing more than a trip through nostalgia lane.  I remember loving classic games of this type, like Ys III on the SNES and Faxanadu on the NES; nothing deep, just pure shallow fun.

Yeah, I love the game.  Yeah, I acknowledge that as far as a game with any depth or anything new to offer, it's a complete failure.  If it weren't for the nostalgia factor, I'd absolutely hate it.

Go figure.  *shrug*

[edit]
You know, I just realize that first line might be interpreted as specifically commenting on LE, which I didn't intend, so let me specify that I just meant I expected someone to make a totally dismissive comment about the game.  Had no idea who it would be, but figured it'd happen once it popped up in mention.  slywink

I heard as much, but for $10 I wouldn't mind at all.  That is why it stood out.  I don't want to waste more than that!

I'll second that.  I absolutely hated that game.

Back on topic, Bard's Tale is certainly worth $10.  I put in about 10 hours before the frustration level got too high, but all in all it was pretty fun.  There are a few laugh-so-hard-you-fall-off-the-couch ("Oh it's bad luck to be you...") moments that are all too rare in games.

Darn you Gratch...now I want to pull it back out just to hear the music.  The music and the setting were the best part of the game.  It took it from a mediocre hack'n'slash to just above good.   That first song in the pub is now stuck in my head.
