http://blendogames.com/atomzombiesmasher/

Just released today along with a demo. I've played through the demo a couple of times and really enjoy it. Not sure if I want to purchase from the developer directly or await it's Steam release but it's a sure purchase.

looks like there's a problem with the game not loading up for ATI cards (which I'm having).  I'll wait for them to fix it and try the demo again.  Too bad, it looks fun.

Sucks about the ATI issue. You can roll back your drivers or wait for a fix which should be coming shortly. I went ahead and bought the full version after reading that an activation key will likely be given out for Steam to those that already bought the game from the developer.

It's great. The planning stage really opens up once you start rescuing scientists and researching new techs. Earning gold medals is extremely difficult but I find myself restarting zones to try and acquire them frequently. The zombies usually prevent me from ever doing so. frown

Not sure if it's worth the $15 asking price yet but it's a solid indie game with addictive qualities that should prove to be a fun little time waster.

The demo is pretty awesome.  If it was $10 I would already have it, but for some reason $15 is making me pause more.

Has anyone else played this to some extent? Does it have legs?

siege, have you played it more and do you still think it's not quite worth the $15?

I want to buy it, but cant pull the trigger just yet.

I got it, it's a lot of fun but still feels overpriced a bit.

I want a game like it on iPhone

I actually quite like AZS, although I agree a $10 price point would be better. However, it is one of those "time waster" games that you can get on and get sucked into. In some ways, it is about "optimization" of your rescue efforts, so the overarching campaign map is only relevant to track the spread of the Zeds. Having to deal with random combos of mercs is the huge challenge - sometimes you get zombie bait, artillery, infantry, and barriers and you rejoice. Other times you get dynamite, zombie bait, barriers, and mines and you have to deal with that.

The inter-"story" bits are random and bizarre. You can largely ignore those.

It is also harder than crap to win.

Nukes? No, not exactly.
There are orbital llama bombardments though.
They aren't represented graphically, you just click and hundreds of Zeds are dead.

It was good - love the game play so they have my money. After playing the demo I totally understand the comments re the price point (which I didn't before). But.....it's a fine idea and we're talking small amounts on the wrong side of the price point.

I aim to only complete missions at silver level - 2nd mission managed to defeat the zed and gain a gold:)

I made the mistake of buying the game before trying the demo, and I'm not sure it is for me.  I played through the first few levels and couldn't say I really had much fun with them.  Maybe as upgrades and more options for direct impact open up it would be better, but I wasn't digging the early stuff.

One thing I don't like is you don't get to pick the mercanaries you get or have for missions and it can give you some really poor choices where you haven't a hope.

I would definitely try the demo is you don't like the demo you will not like the main game, but conversely if the demo appeals the main game is more of the same smile

+1 on this. Trying to kill off all zeds in the city with just an infantry unit and some landmines made for some very frustrating retries.

The infantry unit is my fav. Its when you have barricades, the atttractor thing and the single one of explosions - that is then impossible, the only thing you can do is evacuate as many as you can but its not fun frown

It is when your job is to evac. I was in a level 4 town, my job is zed eradication. The infantry doesn't move fast enough to catch them all.

I do think they need to change this mechanic. I played this morning and it did put me off when I wasn't getting the support units I should - doesn't add to the game imho

The site admin, which I'm assuming is the programmer, replied to your post. Wow, he may actually listen to people's ideas and implement them, that would be awesome.

Yes I think he is a one man band. I restarted the campaign in 1.62 and certainly I have taken 2 territories out of 4 so far so it's going well. But could just be the randomness falling on my side smile

Actually my mission complaint I think has been a bit false  Roll Eyes I wasn't paying attention to the units availeable - I had thought they were per region but they are what you get so when you have duff units hit the easier missions smile
