Love that trailer, game just oozes with style.
Feeling lazy, don't want to look it up, but doesn't Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories come out in October as well? R*'s going to own my wallet that month...

Had no interest in this game. Trailer looks very interesting and I'll be checking to see the reviews...cause it's now on my watch list!
I never got bullied much in school except for a couple times my freshman year.
One time a guy was hassling me and kept hassling me, so I shoved him over a desk, he got up, slapped me in the side of the head and that was it.
Another time, two seniors threw my glasses across the bus cause I wouldn't give them my seat. The next day I had my big brother and his friend meet one of them at the bus stop. That pretty much ended that.
The second guy wasn't there to meet my back up, but he never bothered me again either. However, he did continue to pick on my best friend- who would be the starting offensive tackle for 3 of the 4 years we attended Oakton High and was and still is the strongest person I've ever known in my life. Needless to say, he lost the eventual fight and probably still has a lisp due to the dental work required to place his front teeth back in his mouth.
Ahh...high school the worst social experiment ever inflicted on children.

Wait...I'm trying to figure out what about that trailer makes people suddenly anxious for this game. All they did was basically show cut scenes. No real gameplay videos that I could see (I didn't notice any GUI, anyway). How can you tell this is going to rock just from cut scenes?

Cause you get to take on the principal, bullies, stuck up chicks in a way that none of us ever did for real back in the day.
I'm gonna date me a cheerleader and bust up the principal's office! Oh, and wear my collar in a menacing but likeable bad boy style.

So does anyone know if this is going to be closer to Grand Theft Columbine or some weird social game ala the Sims?
I mean, if I ask the popular girl out in the game and she says no, can I tap X to strangle her to death? Or is it more like hit O to get one last frustrated grope in? Or do you just have to load a Save?

Looks kinda fun.

It'll make Thompson's head asplode. I'll support that. They've got my cash. Ask and ye shall receive! Jack (ass) Thompson was on Attack of the Show discussing Bully along with violence in video games. Adam Sessler of X-Play was the designated pit bull to go after Thompson, while the CEO of Game Daily was the spineless marshmallow stuck in the middle. What frivolity! Watch the video and be amazed: http://www.g4tv.com/attackoftheshow/blog/AOTB/cat/84/The_Loop.html

After reading an article on this it sounds like a PR move by Rockstar to make nice after all the GTA stuff. You can't do anything excessive in the game without gettting hit hard for it. You have to go to classes and get proper sleep or it will affect you etc.. The worst you can do it seems is practical jokes and such.
This isn't GTA: The teen years.

Ok, watched the trailer, and I must be in the minority as I really have no interest in this title. I don't either. Rockstar's MO (Table Tennis aside) seems to be, "Let's find the most controversial topic that will piss the most people off, then build a game around it.". It gets people talking (and buying, apparently) but usually doesn't exactly make for the most compelling gameplay imo. Then again, I was one of the 5 gamers on the planet that hates the GTA series. Maybe I'm just missing something.

Let me preface this by saying that I enjoyed GTA3 and GTA: San Andreas. (Never played Vice City, though I own the soundtrack box-set).
From that preview, Bully looks like the same great gameplay with a bit more whimsy. I'm in if reviews are favorable.

Man, Vice City is my personal favorite. I'd like to own the GTA CD box sets as well. Some great music on there. Any reason why you skipped out on Vice City? If you enjoyed those other games then I highly reccommend that one. Personally I found San Andreas overwhelming.

Basically, I didn't have a PS2 at the time of release, and didn't have the money to buy it when it hit for PC. Had a little extra cash when San Andreas came out, along with a new gaming rig to play it on, and went straight for the "latest and greatest." I'd like to visit Vice City some day, just not sure when that'll be.

Further derailing the thread, I finally beat (but far from completed) Vice City tonight, after a break of about, oh, seven months or so. I really wish I'd pushed through and completed the game back in January, 'cause the game's lost so much steam, so much impact, since then. Anyway, I'd put Vice City above the first GTA III - a very, very good game. Now I just wonder if I want to lose more of my life to San Andreas ...

I have to say, that Bully has sort of become my most anticipated game. I don't know why really. Perhaps it's because I look at the really neat desktop from the game all day every day.
I'm rather excited about this one.

While this does look interesting and kinda intrigues me, they have radically altered the gameplay in the last year or so from what I've heard and we really have no clear indication how the game is going to play now, so I am cautious until we get some real hands-on impressions.

It's also vastly overrated because outside of the stellar voice acting and some fun moments here and there it's exactly the same game we've all played for the prior two installments (except for Nate who skipped Vice). I'm still in the camp that preferred GTAIII over either Vice or San Andreas but I thought the voice work and characters were better off in the sequels. Nate, I can also lend you Vice City for the PS2 if you ever want it.
