still waiting for the last second delay of the PC version smile

Wasn't it already delayed beyond the next-gen versions?

it's due out the 19th, right in between the Ps4 and XB1 versions, so they've got a week to decide to screw PC players over.

That's all the time they need. They never let a chance to screw PC gamers slip through their fingers.

I just saw that Amazon has the digital download code for this on the PS3 discounted at $53.36   .  Maybe Amazon selling PSN content will include sales after all!!

None. Ubisoft isn't telling us anything. The patch could be out in a few hours, in a day, in a week, or in a month. We have no way of knowing. I wouldn't be surprised to see it hit after the Xbox One's launch.

I don't know about waiting.  the game looks pretty damn good as is and plays very nicely.  I put in quite a few hours with it yesterday and have almost everything done in Havana.  it reminds me of the city layouts in AC3 without the horses.  the first time I zoomed all the way out from city and saw the rest of the world.  wow.  that's pretty freaking huge.

So is this patch going to erase our current save?

I don't see why it should as it will only affect your p, but with Ubisoft you never know.

Why on Earth would it do that? You really don't have to worry about that kind of thing from the big publishers unless they're making major changes to gameplay with a patch.

Good, what I had hoped.

I find it more difficult than AC3 and just don't want to lose my progress.

So I haven't played an Assassin's Creed game since the first one, and I'm kind of surprised at the lack of progress in the mechanics and such.  It seems like many times I want my guy to do something he doesn't and just stops dead, and other times he does something that makes no sense.  I expected this to be much more fluid by the 6th (?) iteration on this series.

Also, what is it about running or being on the roof of a building that makes it an offense punishable by death?  Half the time I'm just running around checking things out and somebody yells and starts shooting at me for no reason.

running across rooftops didn't become a commonly accepted mode of transportation until after the Movement Rights Movement of the 1960s.  Until then, co-mingling of methods of transportation were frowned up, and roof runners were considered sidewalk traitors.

I'm torn on AC4.  I thoroughly enjoy the parts when I'm in the city.   Assasinations, collecting widgets, the story missions, etc. are all surprisingly fun and engaging.  However, I really dislike the ship combat.  It's so clunky (yes, I know that's mainly by design) that it simply takes out all the fun and turns it into an exercise in frustration.  I find myself inwardly groaning every time the story puts me out to sea.

Those of you who have put significant time into it, what would you say your percentage of land vs. sea has been?  If it's 80/20, I might just try to power through the sailing bits.  If it's 50/50, then the game will be up for sale tomorrow.

not sure.  there's bound to be a large portion of it considering how they were hyping all the improvements and extra stuff they added to the open seas.  fwiw, you could probably power through and only have to deal with the sea combat when required to.  so far, in the last two days of playing, I've put 80% of my time into exploring Havana and Nassau and still have a few things to find and complete.

I guess I'm lucky as I'm enjoying this a lot and will probably spend much of my time with it.  even though it's cross gen, it's one of the best of the launch games out there.  I do like the sea combat though and while it's hectic at times, there is a definite strategy to it.

I haven't played since vanilla AC2, and you're right, there's still plenty of comedic potential for unintended animations in AC4.  I like it when I'm trying to chase someone and decide and do a little wall jig to help keep spirits festive.  I've never been able to pull off perfect assassinations in the AC games.  Mine are almost always horribly botched Monty Python affairs.  Bodies and swords flying everywhere, people falling off rooftops, pots and vases breaking, screaming and yelling.  I start off all sneaky and clandestine, but then my guy will do something I didn't want him to do, like hop off a rooftop right into the middle of a guard circle jerk...and the chaos begins.

My AC experience is not so much assassinations as it is spreading chaos wherever I go as loudly as I can.  Most of the time I'm playing I'm laughing at all of the stupid, insane stuff my guy does in the performance of his execution duties.

Different strokes. I love the sea stuff. I've spent so much time running around cities in previous AC games sailing the ship around to different islands to do tasks, and just searching is fun. The seamless nature of no long loading screens is a huge plus. I'm sure it will wear off after awhile but this game has gotten me interested in AC again when the III one left me indifferent to more in the series.

Being a pirate is just plain fun.

P.S. I'm so glad they have minimized the modern day stuff. The gimmick of it being a gaming studio is cute but the less of it the better.

Just wait until the patch (which may or may not have just hit. I'll update when I know more). It not only increases the resolution to 1080p, but also adds AA to the game.

Judging by the screenshot comparisons I've seen, it looks a lot better. The 900p implementation in AC4 makes it look like vaseline is smeared across the screen, blurring everything. At 1080p it becomes really crisp.

In the first few games combat was deadly, making you want to actively avoid it. Now, in the last 2 or 3 games it has changed to the point where combat isn't a thing to worry about, this time around more so.

You missed my point. The combat is indeed easy, but you should try to avoid it. If you're deliberately fighting to reach your goals, you're doing yourself a disservice. Sure you'll win, but judging by how easy you say you find the combat, you won't have much fun in the process.
