A friend of mine has never played the 360 and i'm making a trip over to his house this weekend to show him the console.  He's a long long time pc gamer who primarily plays FPS games.  He has sworn off the 360 because he believes no way you can play with a gamepad and be good like he can with a keyboard and mouse.

So now i'm wondering about what games to take over since we'll only have my system.  I'm sure we'll try out some Live, but i was hoping to play something single player to get him started before we go online.

So is there anything we can play on the one console?  Any ideas?

Ton of stuff.  Sports games are obvious.  Marvel Ultimate Alliance can be played single screen co-op.  A lot of racing games have split screen.  R6, Gears of War and (I think) the GRAWs can be played split screen.

Almost all of the Tom Clancy games support up to four people (2 is best though).  The Outfit is split screen MP.  Forza (1 & 2)are there for racing.

Well he isn't into sports games, primarily shooters.  So Gears of War and Rainbow Vegas is split screen?  Those were the 2 i was thinking of.  Of course if we play Guitar Hero first we'll never make it to those i suspect Tongue

You could also introduce him to Halo1 and 2 (if you have them)... they play well enough, but if he's an FPSer, he likely has played them before.

Lego Star Wars II is also coop.

Yes, R6 Vegas has split-screen co-op.  I had the attitude of your friend about console FPS until I played this game.   The only downside is you can't split-screen online with R6.  You can in GRAW but I think you need multi-accounts. I play a lot of split-screen co-op and the two games that my friends enjoyed the most were R6 and Winning 11.

That free sidescrolling shooter on Arcade is fun too with 2 or more players.

Don't bother with Kameo co-op. You have to unlock the levels first by beating the game, and that sort of defeats the point of co-op.

I'll second Gears of War.  Also, for kicks, sit him down with Dead Rising.  If that doesn't hook him, I'm not sure what will.

Earth Defense Force!

I will highly second this.  It's definitely B-game quality because of the lack of polish, but it is a ton of fun and addicting.

Just give up now, and get a second guitar controller! My downstair 360 only ever plays FFXI anymore... and thanks to you folks, the upstairs one now only plays Guitar Hero II.  I can't play it because of my muscle problem, but we're already having friends over and wild GHII parties, lol.  The rest of the time, I have to listen to blasting "Sweet Cherry Pie" while trying to play FFXI - pretty sure most of the music has never been heard in Vana'diel!   icon_eek

Myto!

Use your dashboard; I'm sure you could stream Sweet Cherry Pie.mp3 to your Vana'diel-bound console there.
