I was just in EB at lunch looking for clues about the status of my 360 preorder (and I was given the same BS lines I've been for weeks), when the Nintendo rep came in with all her brief cases, etc.

I overheard her telling the manager that there wasn't a single copy of Animal Crossing DS left on the shelves in the state of Georgia.

So apparently Nintendo has taken a page out of M$'s books and not produced enough of a product to meet demand during the Christmas season.

Hmm.. Well, I've seen plenty of them in stores in Boston.  I had no trouble walking in and buying one.  Mario Kart was a different story -- took me almost 3 weeks to get a copy of that.

Not sure where you are in Georgia, but if you're near Jacksonville, the St. Johns Town Center store got a ton of them in today.

Wish I had read that before I drove over to EB.  I got the same story.  There were a stack of preorders on the floor but none for me.

They had plenty of Mario Kart so I bought one.  My WiFi dongle shipped yesterday so I will try Best Buy or Media Play next week for AC.

Hope it works for you.  I still get that "Please Plug in the Nintendo USB Connector" error while it installs.  Luckily (I guess), many others have been getting that error.  And it's apparently pretty random of an error too.  My brother's computer - which is essentially the exact same as mine - installs the USB Connector and it plays flawlessly.  And I've been part of the many people that have tried to find a fix.

Still haven't found one either.  Though, by our monumental post about that problem in the forums, apparently Buffalo (the makers of the stick) and Nintendo are coming up with some downloadable drivers to get the issue fixed.
