Why do you need the cards?

Because it's a CCG in a video game format.

And the camera?

How would the game recognize the cards you were using?

...I don't get it.

You probably don't want to get it, but that's okay.

I don't get it either. Why aren't the cards on screen and just avoid the whole camera thing? It seems like playing Magic on a webcam. I haven't watched the movies or read anything about it though, so I am probably missing something.

Because it's a CCG in a video game format.

Essentially, it's Magic on a webcam...but it has 3d monsters that spring to life, which is awesome and super geeky.  You can play the game without the webcam, on a normal 9x9 grid if you so choose.

the whole 3d monster bit is pretty cool from the vids I've seen, but I've sworn off CCG's after Magic.

Heh. No I meant it's available at the reduced price NOW, before the 40G model is out.

From the initial post (where it was also in bold):

"The company also announced that effective immediately, the current 80GB PS3 model will be available in North America for $499 (USD/CND), $100 below the original launch price. "

I think this makes the 80GB more compelling, particularly for those where PS2 compatibility isn't a major concern.
Up until now, I've been suggesting the 60 over the 80.

All this means is that right now, things are a freakin' mess.

Circuit city is selling the PS3 60 GB for:  $499.99
and it's selling the PS3 80GB w/Motorstorm for:  $499.99!

Amazon has the same pricing.

Huh?  Eh?

There is no price drop on the 60GB model.
I don't expect there to be, given it isn't made anymore.
So you've got a choice:

1) Good BC, Extra HD space, and Motorstorm or
2) Great BC

Before the price drop, I thought the 60GB was a no-brainer.
Now things aren't so clear.

I bet some retailers will offer up some deals to move along the 60GB version.

That's what I'm waiting to see.  I have no interest in Motorstorm and would like the great BC.

What's up with the ALL CAPS name?

Because Sony likes talking about themselves IN BIG GIANT LETTERS. It makes them feel more important.

actually, it's fairly commonplace for companies to do such on press releases.  Not all, but most.

BC is the big breaker for me, so the 60gb is out of the question.  with the price drop on the 80gb, maybe I'll get one soon...

I thought the 60 gig has BC but is discontinued.  it's the 40 that you want to avoid if you don't want Sony to win want to have backward compatibility  slywink

I am going to be looking carefully at the market for the 60s once they sell out. I have this tiny little feeling that they might start selling for more than they should on Ebay with the BC intact after they are gone. I will have no qualms selling mine for a good price if thats the case.
