Now that the game has gone gold, I am tempted to buy the WiiU version solely for the WiiU game pad integration. However, I'm interested in the multiplayer and most of my friends are on the 360.....

I predict this will be very bad!
Edit: To elaborate, since I got distracted when I posted this - Its been in development for quite a while, and as far as I can remember, has been in what..2 or 3 different developer hands by now? So far the animatios and videos I've seen looks stilted and outdated.
I wish I was wrong, I really do - we NEED more Alien franchise thingies, but my gut tells me this isn't the thing.

Has it been in different developers hands?,because i remember Randy Pitchford of Gearbox saying that they announced this title way too early when no work at all had been done on the game EDIT: found this http://www.nowgamer.com/news/1479230/aliens_colonial_marines_early_announcement_was_unusual_pitchford.html"One of the last things I want to remind everyone of was when we the business deal was completed on the Aliens project, we hadn’t even written the first line of code yet." "20th Century Fox and Sega got so excited that there was going to be this sequel to Aliens that they put out a press release before the ink was even dry on the paper." "Usually we’d be very far along with a project before it’s even announced, but when Alien ships the development time will be the same as the original Borderlands."

I'm not sure, but I'm pretty sure that this has been with Gearbox since it's inception. It was, however, put on indefinite delay by Sega for atime, not Gearbox, and is now finally being released.
I wasn't impressed by the multiplayer I tried at PAX, too left 4 dead, but that's multiplayer. If co-op and single player are good, I might pick it up.

The WiiU version has been pushed back if anyone cares. I was interested because I like the way the motion tracker was integrated in ZombiU but it’s still far more likely that I would pick it up on PC for the co-op experience.

Yeah and it isn't Gearbox who are doing the Wii U version,it's Demiurge Studios who have got a decent list of games under their belt, but it doesn't seem to be the main game they have worked on in most cases Eg: Xbox live Features for various games I never played their 'Shoot Many Robots',so i can't comment on that Although they did do Mass Effect for PCThen again,i didn't know who BluePoint Games were and their HD versions of ICO/SOTC and the MGS HD collection were fantastic ports(I wasn't Interested in God of War HD collection)...i would be quite happy to see every HD port done by those guys

The gameplay and graphics in the trailer look fine but that was possibly the worst voice over I’ve ever heard from a game. Apparently bad enough that the head writer stepped in and disowned it, saying that it’s not from the game itself.

That trailer had some terrible Duke Nukem voice-overs.
Also, I know TimeGate Studios is (or was) involved with this game as well. I'm not sure if TG was only working on multiplayer or if it was the whole game, but it has definitely been worked on by other studios.

Someone from Gearbox tweeted that the dialogue from the trailer is not in the game and they didn't write it. The dialog in the Aliens trailer today is not from the game. I also did not write it. Love you!

Season Pass AnnouncedSega has officially announced that Aliens: Colonial Marines is getting the season-pass treatment, which will include four post-release add-ons for the game. The first download is a mode called bug hunt, a wave-based challenge that includes three new maps.
The season pass will cost $29.99, or 2,400 Microsoft Points, which Sega says is 40-percent off what you'd pay if you bought it all individually. The first batch of DLC is bug hunt, a mode where players have to survive wave after wave of unrelenting enemies. The vanilla game includes four multiplayer modes, including team deathmatch, escape, survivor, and extermination.

This thing is getting dumped on gaming sites all over...surprising miss from a usually quality developer in Gearbox. The Alien franchise deserves better than this.

It's so much worse than what I thought. It's not that the graphics and animations are dated, it's that EVERYTHING is dated. Check it out before you drop any cash on this one.
too late. i broke my "no preorders, wait for reviews!" rule twice in the last year. The first one was x-com so I was lulled into a false sense of security. That's when this turd bit me in the ass. Now I remember why I put that rule in place!

I'm really not sure what happened here.
We know Gearbox was busy with the awesome Borderlands 2, but what happened to this? Did Sega just throw it into limbo too long or something? It's hard to imagine gearbox throwing it under the bus when they were the ones to first pitch it.

Apparently, parts of this game are so absurd that Game Informer's video producer literally fell over in his chair laughing. The whole video is instructive, but skip to about 13:00 for the section on "zombie aliens." There's also this video of a guy running through an entire level, never firing a shot, while the incredibly deadly xenomorphs claw helplessly at the air, and this singing and dancing edition. -Autistic Angel

For some reason EGM gave it a 90 and called it "a big event for the genre" or something. Next highest review is in the 60s. Can you say payoff?

well apparently... Gearbox only did the Multiplayer mode in the game, although Randy Pitchford says different CVG"Primary development" on Aliens: Colonial Marines was outsourced to Section 8 developer TimeGate Studios.
That's the claim made by an alleged former developer in a May 2012 forum post (spotted by Superannuation), who describes the game's six-year development as "a total train wreck". The 'developer', who goes on to state that he or she has since moved on to new Austin-based studio Armature, claims that core studio Gearbox actually focused it efforts on the game's multiplayer mode.
The post reads: "Hate to say it, but I wouldn't get your hopes up too high for Colonial Marines. I used to work at Gearbox, and the development of that game has been a total train wreck, going on what, six years now?
"Gearbox isn't even making the game, except for the multiplayer. Primary development was outsourced to TimeGate Studios, which has a less than stellar past.
"I hope it proves me wrong, as I still have alot of friends still working at Gearbox, but I am expecting it to be average at best."
CVG has contacted Sega for comment.
TimeGate's involvement in the Colonial Marines project has been known, and Texas studio Nerve and Demiurge Studios also contributed to development - the latter heading up the Wii U version of the game.
However, Gearbox president Randy Pitchford is reported to have claimed last year that his in-house team contributed "roughly 80 percent of the work" on Colonial Marines.
TimeGate's previous work includes RTS game Axis & Allies, plus F.E.A.R. expansion Extraction Point.

No kidding. That entire review reads like an Amazon.com product placing with no actual meat in it in the slightest. Go read the comments (before they all get removed) for a few good laughs. Next highest score (at least for the moment) to that is a 65/100, which includes Ron's review. Which frankly seems like a much more accurate score if you were a fan of the Aliens series. Eurogamer's review (30/100, lowest score) is as usual extremely critical of things. Talk about just a total failure of a game in the end.

For some reason EGM gave it a 90 and called it "a big event for the genre" or something. Next highest review is in the 60s. Can you say payoff?
If that EGM review doesn't end up in some startling cleanup over there, or the dismantling of the site, something is very wrong. I accept that reviews can vary, but *not* like this. A review isnt the same as an opinion piece. If this is true, its insane : Jim Sterling Jim Sterling @JimSterling
That good looking demo of Colonial Marines they kept showing at events? Not part of the game. It was entirely contrived, and basically a lie https://twitter.com/JimSterling/status/301286341998694400I'm sad I was right about this trainwreck, because as I wrote elsewhere, this means that basically the Aliens Franchise is dead, both as movies and as games.
