Gearbox Software's Randy Pitchford doesn't want you to think that the house of Borderlands and Duke Nukem Forever forgot about their Aliens game. To reassure us the project is alive, his team flashed screenshots of it at Gearbox's PAX panel.

Asked in the latest issue of Game Informer (via SegaBits) if the game is still coming out, he said:

"Colonial Marines. We've been working closely with Gearbox behind the scenes, and we'll be able to tell you a lot about that in the next couple of months." About time, too.

if its Gearbox then the Co-Op should be sweet as it is in Borderlands

Looks like some of the recent replies were eaten in the forum move.  I was hoping for some more info on this out of E3.  The trailer was a good start, but I was hoping for some gameplay.  Maybe once the show starts?

unfortunately it is not on the IGN E3 schedule list...maybe Tokyo Game Show?

they have given it a Spring 2012 release date anyway...you know,like that 2009 release they gave a few years ago

Gamekyo is carrying the image to the left, which suggests the collector's edition will offer purchasers three weapons for online matches (M240 Flamethrower, M577 A2 Smart Gun, M41A Pulse Rifle upgrade), a new game mode dubbed USCM (United States Colonial Marine Corps) Academy Firing Range.

It'll also feature a "highly detailed resin display model" featuring a marine strapped into a power loader suit battling an alien, like the one Ripley uses to take on the Queen at the end of Aliens.

if they can price this decently and not at 150 bucks like the latest batch of CE's I would be interested in it.  otherwise there isn't as much to this one as usual. 

not sure about the box design thougn.  looks too angular for an alien's head and what's with the inner jaw?  looks like a capital letter C. 

I really hope they don't screw this one up.

That's very sexy, but my realization about Collector's Editions is that I won't buy one unless it's got something useful inside like a useful piece of DLC or a Strategy Guide (though no one has thought to do the latter yet, oddly).  And even then I won't buy it unless it would cost me about the same without the shiny box.

Demon's Souls did (and I got that), but Dark Souls had the "mini" strategy guide, and it was digital to boot.

Delayed until Autumn 2012?

Sega has seemingly delayed Gearbox's Aliens: Colonial Marines to autumn 2012.

Most recently planned for a spring release, the long in development project is in the works for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

We requested a comment from Sega this afternoon but were told the publisher's not discussing the release date at the moment. Sounds as though the game may well have been delayed, then.

I've got three months of SWTOR to get through and I still haven't picked up Skyrim yet.

"Aliens: Colonial Marines is a process of creativity and invention and those don't necessarily follow the structure of an assembly line," said a Gearbox rep.

"While setting clear goals, deadlines and predictions is helpful, they are often subjective. We don't want to sacrifice the creative process just for the sake of following a blue print. We prefer to have the creative discovery shape that blue print because our goal is to make a great game, and we are prioritizing this goal over the previously targeted date."

The rep made no mention of the revised date, which now sits at 'autumn' on the official site.

Looks so good. Also read yesterday that it was announced before development started. That's why it seems like its been so long. Pitchford said it would be no longer than Borderlands.

for some reason i was expecting this this year....perhaps now its February so that the Wii U version can come along with the PS3/360 versions
