I only ask because it's getting new motion capture technology for it's animation.  I'm figuring this means alot more work getting things right and probably no 2009 release date.  considering it began development in 2005 and was last rumoured to be released in late 2008 I'm beginning to wonder if it will suffer the same fate as the Duke.

with all the extra stuff that seems to be coming out it wouldn't surprised me if an alpha or beta build of DNF was 'leaked'.

After what they did with the Riddick sequel and rumors that most of the original Riddick game team has been gone for years, I wonder if Starbreeze is really capable of making anything worth being excited about.

Supposedly Alan Wake is going to be a big part of Microsoft's E3 press conference.  More than likely they've been working with that mo-cap stuff for quite a while and are just now talking up the company.

Exactly!

Actually, my mistake.   retard For some reason I was thinking that Alan Wake was the next project from the Riddick game guys and forgot it was the next from the Max Payne developers.

Err that's in the console forums, why would I look in there to find out about a specific game for the PC I am interested in?   I also didn't realize that all future game update information was to go into one thread.  I hope that is not the case because it would suck to have to read about 300 game I have no interest in to find new info on one.

From the video, this Alan Wake must be from some far-flung future indeed! He's managed to outwit the best and brightest, the space-marines, in being able to hold BOTH a gun and a Flashlight!

;-)

But damn it looks good! I love the atmosphere of the game, kinda reminds me of that creepy game you could buy from the PS3 store in installments...

I think that naednek was posting the link so you guys could pull the video file hosted here instead of having to find somewhere to wait in line.

Oddly enough the Alan Wake one was one of the few I couldn't play since apparently none of the major players support the .flv extension. Time to install yet another one crybaby

They had Sam Lake from Remedy on G4 yesterday going over the same demo from the presentation. This is the guy who wrote the original Max Payne story and was the model for the character in the first game. It was weird hearing Max Payne with a Finnish accent smile

The game looks cool and the use of light to weaken enemies is interesting. I hope the game isn't too scary, I'm kind of a wuss.

I got to watch a MS rep play the game for about 18 minutes, it's definitely far from DNF status.

Yeah, the DNF reference was after the announcement if switching one of their systems but before their E3 media blitz.

looked really sharp and different but also looked like it was on rails. Also the "TV Episode Feel" is going to keep pulling me out of the world. I remember when it was first announced and they said multicore only. I had a smoking single core and was bummed. It has taken so long to come out i've upgraded but now I'm not sure I want it. The character standing to the side of the screen with a controller? What the hell is that.?

Interesting thing was, they changed the story.  Before Alan had gone to the town to write after the death of his wife, now his wife is missing in the town.  Although I wouldn't put it past them to make Alan have one of those crazy moments where he realizes his wife had been dead all along.

I want the game, it looks great, probably plays great on my beefy rig that I have now.  The story seemed interesting enough and the narration of every action made it seem like an old TV show.

imho, Remedy's executives and devs aren't arrogant or obnoxious enough for Alan Wake to truly be the next DNF.  icon_razz

I would assume they shed some tears that Rockstar is taking over their Max Payne baby though.
