I've got 3 of these on both PC and XBLA, never able to finish more than half of them and that urban trial game on Vita.  and several android versions.  not sure what the draw is, but I love these.

Yeah, these things keep sucking me in, too. Excited about a next gen version.

Reviews are coming in now.  mostly favorable, except for one.

Anyone picked this up yet?  I'm not in a rush to get it just yet but it's high on my impulse sale price list.

I grabbed it and it's good.  Difficulty curve might be a bit off, and track locations aren't quite as varied as Evolution so far where there's some kind of weird story tying it all together.

While this certainly does have the "let me just try that one more time" thing that Trials is known for, this seems to be the weakest Trials yet, IMO.  Certainly not to the point anyone should avoid it if they like this type of game, but it just doesn't feel inspired like the last two did.

For my money, one of the two dumbest additions to this version are the narrators.  This man and woman keep uttering nonsense like it's funny.  But worse is that you have to hear these snippets over and over when you reset.  Blessedly, it's not every time, but the repetition is frequeunt enough that you feel the resets in a way the previous games avoided.  Huge mistake that is directly counter to the spirit of this series, IMO.

The other dumb addition is that theme song.  I actually would never listen to music from the previous Trials games anywhere else but in those games.  That style just wasn't for me.  But it fit the attitude of the game.  When I boot up this new one, and the poseur starts welcoming me to the future then emphasizes how futuristic this new world is by singing, "Man, machine...the future" I generate severe eye strain from all the hardcore rolling they start doing.

Seriously, what is that supposed to mean?  It's like he's saying, "Hey, man, this is the future...you know: man? machine? the future?" like those two things don't exist in the present day.  Is it some sort of equation?  Man+Machine=Future?  Or has he gone off on a tangent, like he starts saying this game is in the future.  It's about man and their machines and their symbiotic bond that leads into their fusion as one being.  Don't forget it's the future.

And it seems like all of the incidental music are variations on that main theme, so I'm constantly reminded of his ridiculous singing.  At least until I cut one of the narrators off mid-sentence before having to hear that half sentence again.

You can turn the narrators off in the options.

Theme song is great too, also you have the lyrics wrong.  It's "welcome to the future, man, machine the fusion."

But I agree Evolution was a better game.

Lyrics aside, you like that insipid theme?

It's not terrible.  It's better than Evolution's rock/rap theme.

Wow.  I find it terrible.

As for turning the narrators off, that helps, but it was still a terrible idea to put them into the game in the first place, IMO.

Note that I didn't say I liked it.  Maybe I should have put 'I've heard worse'  biggrin
