Ezio, not Enzio. He'd kill you for that. Also, that's him. He's not dead, he's just wearing the olive-green cape and armor. oh, and LOOK OUT!!

I'm such a moron. I traded my copy of Brotherhood in at Gamestop last week. I thought I'd grabbed Asscreed 2 but when I went to look for my copy Saturday so I could do some backstabbing in MP, i realized my mistake.

I traded in my copy of AssCreed Bros awhile back too after firing it up and finding no real need to continue. I'm feeling the itch though again after finishing AssCreed 2 again recently.

AssCreed 2 has a good story so I would start there. AssCreed 1 seemed more like a tech demo. Wash, rinse, repeat.

If you're going to look at it that way, I would say read a summary of 1 and play 2. Brotherhood is an improvement over 2, but 2 is very much worth playing while 1 can get very tiresome. If you like 2 you can play Brotherhood.

What actually happened in AC:B that affects the story of the modern assassins guild that wouldn't be explained away in 30 seconds of cutscene footage at the beginning of AC3? The Ezio stuff is nice and all, but it isn't critical to the overarching storyline.

That being said, it certainly was a welcome addition, and showed that Ubisoft was really raising the bar on this. They lost the creative genius behind the Assassin's Creed game ( Patrice Desilets), who took a break and will be returning to the industry at THQ Montreal. What happened to Derek? Is that the brit?

Get Assassins Creed 2 - Its by far the better game, and is my choice for second best Console game ever. Brotherhood is great as well, and very innovative, but if you care at all about story, get AC2.

I tell anyone within earshot that I should be sterilized in order to prevent a future generation of hepcat's that can't figure out they're supposed to pull on doors with signs that read "PULL", and don't leave common household items in the fridge by accident when getting a snack.

As I understand it, slang dictates that as "pulling" but it ain't what the mall owners had in mind.

Start with 2. The original is ok, but once you play the game for a few hours you've done absolutely everything there is to do. You can read a summary online, but I think the series does a good job of summarizing what happened in the previous games.
And if you end up liking the story, jump right into Brotherhood. The gameplay is nearly identical to 2, but it does more to advance Desmond's story than all of the other games combined.

I just played through the entirety of Brotherhood, including all missions available from all sources. The only story that has any effect on the overall storyline here happens in the last 5 minutes of the game. The rest is completely irrelevant. Ezio's role is over, yet you spend almost the entire game controlling him. It's a good game, but don't expect it to do much to progress events beyond what you saw in AC2, except for those last 5 minutes.

I agree that Ezio's storyline is largely filler, but Desmond's storyline is much more significant and lasts throughout the game and not just the last five minutes.

just remember this magical phrase when playing Brotherhood and the game will be significantly better: it immedediately alleviates any tearing out of the hair when Ezio blows the optional goals by deciding to try and run up a wall instead of moving in the direction you want to go in either a mission with a timer for said goals or when he is supposed to remain undetected. sure, you may miss out on actually playing some back stories, but you can easily look them up on youtube.

I agree that Ezio's storyline is largely filler, but Desmond's storyline is much more significant and lasts throughout the game and not just the last five minutes. I disagree completely. They talk a lot in Desmond's storyline, but there's no character or relationship growth beyond what we saw in AC2, and we learn very little new about what's going on in the world. I get the impression the developers tread very carefully to avoid turning the storyline into a mandatory part of what they had originally envisioned as a trilogy.
