The article makes some good points. But God I hate the word fanboy. When I'm king I'm going to order mandatory flogging for use of that word. Does anybody over the age of 15 seriously use that term?

You've never been to an anime convention.

You've never been to an anime convention. No I haven't. I'm afraid to ask but... what are they like?

Well...those of us who work the convention have a name for the smell that the hardcore attendees have. It's known as Fanboy Funk.

Honestly? Not as bad as people think. No worse than a comic or Star Trek convention, really, and in some ways, better.
Read: Many more females, although lately, most of them seem to be quite underage.
As I stated about 3 years ago:
Cartoon Network: Lowering the median age at anime conventions since 1998.
Also: Project A-Kon: More Catgirls than you can shake a fanboy at.

Is it so hard to put some thought into the title of the thread?
I liked the article because it completely trashes "fanboyism" and basically shows you how moronic and idiotic it is, seriously who really gives a fuck about which console maker "wins" the "war"? I admit, back when the Dreamcast was released I spent a lot of time in message boards representing the DC in the DC Vs. PS2 "war" that was going on. But then again, at that time I was 15-16, and I was in the library cutting class to hit the forums. Its definately an adolescent teen thing.

The article largely misses the point about the recently released Red Steel screenshots. Prior to this, rumor had it the Rev would only be as powerful as the Xbox. Clearly, this is not the case. Nothing more, nothing less. No one is saying it is more powerful than the Xbox360 or that Nintendo is going to be #1 again.
By now I was hoping that the success of the DS and Guitar Hero would open some eyes in regards to new methods of controlling games. The Rev controller is really nothing more than a 3-dimensional mouse. It's not a "light gun."
"It is physically impossible to make a game machine that simultaneously pleases both novice outsiders and people who eat and drink and breathe video games." -- *cough*Guitar Hero*cough*
