no doubt your choice will change by the end of the year, but it will be interesting to know what your 6 month GOTY is at the moment
a few choices are below to give you some reminder
Portal 2 Infamous 2 Zelda:OoT 3D Dead Space 2 Alice Madness Returns Dragon Age 2 Test Drive Unlimited 2 Homefront Crysis 2 F.3.A.R L.A.Noire The Witcher 2 Hunted Red Faction:Armageddon Brink
or is it another title?
I will probably go with L.A.Noire at the moment

It would probably be Dungeon Raid on iPhone. Nothing I've played on the "big boy" consoles has even come close to matching the addictiveness of that. If I'm being completely honest, there isn't a single other game released this year that stands out for me in any way.

Right now I'd say Ocarina of Time, so far as the joy I seem to be getting from it, but that seems like cheating a little.
Next runner up would be Portal 2.
InFamous 2 is also getting a lot of playtime from me.

best shooter - Crysis 2 (runner-up to BF3 in my eyes) best action game - Infamous 2 (runner-up to UC3 after Batman)
of those so far, Crysis 2. had a lot of fun with that one.

I can honestly say Portal 2 is the only game I've thoroughly enjoyed so far this year.
Everything else has been meh.

Well between 3 games. Portal 2, Witcher 2 and Alice madness returns. I had no doubt the first 2 games would be great. But Alice was a very pleasant surprise. Given that I hate platformers and loved every second of the game speaks a lot.

Its really been a non stellar year for me. I never really got into LA Noire and theres not a lot else Ive played this year that has grabbed me either. I guess if I were to pick, it wouldnt be a console game but but an independent PC game. Terraria has eaten more of my hours than any game that has come out this year, by far. For a $7.50 purchase its had the best bang for the buck by far.

Portal 2 runs away with it IMO. Head and shoulders above the rest, I think. LA Noire has some awesome in it but ultimately fell apart towards the end for me. The story didn't go anywhere particularly interesting and the gameplay was essentially the same from the first mission to the last. Also, worst flamethrower ever.
Really enjoyed Dead Space 2 as well. Not much to complain about with that game. I even got the DLC for it.

Well i havn't played the witcher 2 yet...i just got it and installed it so i'll be startin this week.
Even so, I think i've got more enjoyment out of the trailer's and gameplay videos for Saints Row 3 than anything else yet.
So atm i'd rate the SR3 trailers as GoTY:P
My GoTY could end up being any of skyrim, Call of Juarez, Saints Row 3, or Dialbo 3 (if released).
In a seperate segment from traditional gaming, the closed(but open) beta of drakensangonline.com is fast becoming my browser game of the year....i just started very recently but it's a real Dialbo 2.5(3d) so far...

Dead Space 2 for me so far
Games like Brink and Crysis 2 would be mentioned as possibilities if only those two games had decent net code for mutiplayer

For me, it's far and away LA Noire, with Dragon Age 2 and The Witcher 2 as runners up.

There have been a number of good games, but nothing that stands out as hands down GOTY yet. Didn't play Witcher 2 though (own the first and never played it.. damn you steam).
So far I would give it to LA Noire for daring to bring back adventure gaming, and doing a damn good job at it. Great to see a big budget AAA adventure game.
That said, if LA Noire sticks around as my GOTY I will be disappointed. I think it deserves an award but I still want to be wow'ed this year.

Stupid MMOs...due to Rift the only console games I have played this year are Dead Space 2 and Homefront, and I really wouldn't classify either as GOTY material.

I've enjoyed Perfect Cell (iphone), Kirby's Epic Yarn (Wii) and New Super Mario Bros (DS). I also recommend Portal 2 and infamous 1 and 2. GOTY material in their respective categories for 2011, yes. But the best game I've played this year? Castlevania : Lords of Darkness. Much thanks to brother Youngblood on the recommendation (IIRC - perhaps I recommended it to him ).

Game I spent the most time on this year: Dungeon Raid (iOS)
I'd put in Portal 2 for my current GOTY. Hopefully this will be unseated by Skyrimjob.
My boys would say Terraria. I bought 2 copies and I think they've put 120 hours in between them which is just sick.

Never in a million years thought I'd say this, but the console game I've had the most fun with so far this year is probably...Dungeon Siege III. While the first two DS games were utterly generic Diablo clones, DS3 changed things up and is a surprisingly solid action RPG. While it's a pleasant surprise, I think the fact I'm considering DS3 a serious GOTY contender at this point says more about the competition (or lack thereof) than it does about DS3.
