Do Resistance 3 and Killzone 3 really matter that much for 2011? I mean, considering their predecessors weren't commonly considered great games.

R2 and KZ2 were both considered mediocre to good games depending on your preferences, but also flawed.

With Resistance 3 and Killzone 3, it seems like Sony has basically said to all their studios, "See what those studios did with Uncharted 2 and God of War? Do that. Oh, and here's some more time to do that with and all the shared tech that everyone's using to make their games."

It's looking like it will pan out. There's already more story and acting in just one full mission I've seen of Killzone 3 than in all of KZ2. Someone with a press account posted quite a long stretch of gameplay footage and it looks pretty awesome. The spectacle of it is amazing, but, it does spoil a very awesome fight, so you were warned.

R3 there isn't much info on, but they ditched the whole 60fps limit and went with a locked 30FPS limit. This effectively doubles the amount of power they have for both graphics and gameplay, and then threw in a lot of tech that other games were using. They've gone back to the full weapon wheel, which I'm fine with since it just means more fun guns, and they have co-op through the whole campaign, just like the first game.

I liked KZ2 and even though Resistance 2 was ass, Resistance 1 was not, so I'm hoping they get back to that formula.

The only thing I liked about Resistance 2 was something most other consoles games don't have - 64 player online multiplayer. (Although MAG has them beat at 256 players.)
And then there's the online 8 player co-op which was pretty interesting. Still quite a few people playing it online even today.

Killzone 3 is the kind of game that tempts me to go out and buy a 3DTV. I loved both KZ1 and KZ2 and the third can only get better. I'd go as far as to say the AI is some of the best I've ever come across when it comes to FPS's, especially in regards to the multiplayer bots.

I am not really fussed about Resistance 3 or Killzone 3(or most of that list actually),but for me the ICO and SOTC collection i am looking forward to most i think for the PS3(Last Guardian as well)...i am not sure why this gen for PS3 doesn't or hasn't interested me as much, even though i can see that some games are going to be massive sellers

I am more interested in PS3 titles i have not picked up yet,LOL(Uncharted 2,White Knight Chronicles,Demon Souls)

Bull-DL speeds do suffer for me on PS3 as well, but TBH the demos download speeds have improved in the last few months(at least what i have noticed)..the updates though are still a killer, and TBH most times not that much is added to these updates that warrant such a long download(and install)

You'll be glad to know that they are reverting, or changing again, many aspects they changed in R2. The weapon wheel is back, so you can carry a plethora of guns with you now, not sure about the pacing though.

I'm more concerned with the setting.  The WWII vs Aliens vibe was almost completely missing from the second game.

Exactly, felt more like the terminator universe with aliens (big hk thing in 1st level) or the gears universe.
I liked 2 much less than 1, but I'm sure I'll still give 3 a shot.  Card carrying members of the SDF are contractually obligated to do so.  smile

Buying 5 copies of Uncharted 3 only counts one time.

LOL, and that's not the one that is definite for me.  I've stalled out on Uncharted 2.  iNfaMouS, however, I've played through twice, so InfAMoUs 2 is a definite buy.

I think it's just too many similar games at the same time.  AssCreed 2, Asscreed Bros, INfaMOus, PoP: Forgotten Sands, Uncharted 1.. I need a good RPG or two to cleanse the action game palate because if I enter one more room only to see a convuluted path to the exit I may puke  icon_lol
