Eh, it's mostly kept to this thread.

That doesn't really make things better. The hostility generated in this thread is bound to spill over into other threads (and has already in some cases), and it creates pointless barriers between the members of our community.

lol

Explain how that comment (for lack of a better word) makes things better.

Can this thread handle talking about how there seem to be more anecdotal sightings of Xbones in the wild than PS4s? Or will that reawaken The Beast?

I'm not sure that will really accomplish anything other than discussions about production limits and distribution, or the fact that Microsoft is clearly more targeted on the US than other countries.

It probably doesn't mean a thing, but I noticed I have seen Xbox's in the wild but still haven't seen a PS4. Sony dominates the European market don't they? That could have something to do with it, they have to support a larger market place while the XBox is just popular in the US.

Edit: I am sure I am wrong who dominates what market, just going off of anecdotal evidence.

*shrug* I think it's fun and interesting to talk about.  In the days of yore, we might theorize about what it might mean, if anything, and then when the December numbers came out we would see how that matched our theories.  It might also bring up some anecdotes from around the world to see if the US supply is perhaps different the Europe supply.  But I guess this forum isn't the place for that stuff anymore.

Numbers really mean exactly zero right now. We're probably going to have to wait about 3 or 4 months before we can even guess what actual demands are like. That's when the real fun will begin!

Well, I guess I have my answer.  It's not like discussing console sightings in the wild has to equate to discussing if it means one console or the other is winning.  Sorry I resurrected the thread; I give up.

I don't think it resurrected anything or caused ill will about dominance.  MS is focusing on North America a region I think they'll do well in while Sony is taking a more global approach.   Amazon had Xbox One stock on sale Monday and Tuesday, but were again out of stock on Wednesday.  I didn't check PS4.  I've seen Best Buy and Gamestop both advertising bundles on the XB1, but I haven't seen the same with Sony's console

Again, I think the sightings in the wild are based on marketing strategies by the respective manufacturers.

What seems odd to me is that I'm seeing no reports of USA PS4 sightings, not in brick & mortar stores and not in online stores.  When Amazon had a handful of PS4s a day or two after launch, I expected we'd be seeing them pop up every few weeks at least.

With the Xbone, are the units popping up coming hot off the assembly line?  Or do I remember right that MS was holding back some of their initial inventory to let loose over time over the first few months?

I believe last week saw a bunch of PS4 bundles released in Europe, but I'm not following the releases as closely as before since I already have mine.

I know Sony made a point of stating they held back initial stock, but I'm not sure about MS.  Just did a cursory check on Amazon and they are out of PS4 and XB1.  Didn't check Gamestop or Best Buy.

Looking over the last few days worth on CAG, PS4's were available a few times online at best buy, walmart and amazon.  they don't stay in stock for long, and it looks like the same situation for XB1.

compare this market with all the wii trackers that popped up after launch.  seems more people who want one are getting them without much of a wait this time.

NeoGaf usually has threads pop up for either.  They also run anecdotal threads, with people reporting in on their store stock etc.  They had one for last Sunday, probably will for this coming Sunday as well.  That's really probably where you want to be to see this kind of stuff Pug.

I wish we could also somehow get numbers on how many people are accidentally buying 360s and PS3s this season.  It seems like all my local stores have started putting those consoles in the Xbone and PS4 cabinets so they don't look empty, and with the way the cabinets are labelled it would be easy to get confused.

Actually I'm changing the question to a statement/order

This sort of behavior will stop.  Starting now.  The attacks, the baiting by both console camps are not only evident in this thread but in the other related threads.  If it continues, a personal warning will take place, and after that, temporary bans.  Don't be part of the club where Zekester, jblank and other ex-members sit.  It's not worth it, and frankly, I really don't want to deal with it.  It's a freaking console! If you like yours, cool, don't piss on the other's parade.

Once in awhile I make the mistake of participating in the obviously one-sided political forums, and need to take a break for awhile. With the release of the new systems, I was again interested in what the members here were saying.

I have seen both XB1 and PS4 pop into stock briefly before disappearing quickly around the B'ham Alabama area.    I'm guessing it's the same most places.

Edit:  And I might add that I had a strange instinctive urge to purchase one when I saw it even though I already own both.    Gamer instincts or something?

I don't want to say that was awkward, but that made Halle Berry's turn at Catwoman seem smooth.

Amazon has XB1 in stock, but with the caveat that you order will take 1-2 days to process. No PS4 in sight

When I've been in BB lately and hear people asking about either console they get the same story - while supplies may come in during the week, they only put them out for sale on Sunday morning. And they all sell... but no clue what that means as to quantity / console. Heck, I couldn't even find accessories for the XBone - was looking for a Play and Charge kit and ending up at Amazon and waiting 10 days before they could get it to me.

They kind of started this when the Wii and PS3 were on the shelves.    The pile up stock through the week and get a kick out of seeing people lined up in the cold on Sunday mornings.

Don't worry Zeke.   I've seen them popping in and out of stock.   If a parent really wants to get one for their kid, they can.   They just have to be diligent and get up early.
