GOAT definitely is A:CM, only by virtue being picked up instead of Simcity, for the despicable approach they took to marketing the game and how badly they mis-managed it.  it wasn't a pretty game to look at either.

I'm confused. Does GOAT not equal Greatest of All Time? From Caine's quote and a few other things, it sounds like it is supposed to the worst game of the year?

None of you guys played The Last of Us?

I've avoided it because I have absolutely zero interest in anything having to do with zombies.  Seriously...enough already.

I'm sure I'll check it out on a clearance sale sometime, but I'm not in any hurry to do so.

I think you missed out then, because 1: It's not your typical zombie game/movie/story.  2: The presentation and how the story is told is quite remarkable.

I've heard that a few times, but every gameplay video I watch just screams "YOU WILL HATE THIS".  I haven't particularly been a fan of previous ND games, so I'm not sure why one in a setting that is 100% sure to annoy me would be different.

I think it's their best work, and I thought Uncharted 3 was a flat out bad game.  At least 50% of the game is dealing with bandits, and those encounters play out a lot like Tomb Raider's encounters which you had as your GOTY, so maybe you really should give it a look.

Even if you don't like Naughty Dog combat, it's well worth even dialing the difficulty down to easy so you can play for the story.

Ken, you might want to edit your post above, since GOAT would mean this:

See to me, GOAT means Greatest of all time.  And my coworkers were just talking about GOAT as our clan name in BF4...  I think I just subconsciously put it there.

I agree with this.

I would not at all equate the LoU combat to the recent Tomb Raider game.  Even on easy, I found it to be a cumbersome nuisance (despite people telling me I was playing it wrong).  None the less, the story is excellent and worth a play.

Combat keeps it from being my GOTY, though.

It's probably between Bioshock Infinite and Rayman Legends.  Tomb Raider is way up there, too.  I haven't played enough of A Link Between Worlds yet, but it's pretty excellent.

We should just switch to Ghastly Obnoxious Terrible Yuck for the acronym for the stinkers, so we can eliminate any confusion.

I think my GOAT is going to be either SimCity or Ryse. I can't think of anything else as disappointing I've played that came out this year.

Felt I should update my GOTY list after wrapping up one last game for the year today.  Brothers:  A Tale of Two Sons came about *this* close to unseating Tomb Raider for my GOTY.  What an wholly remarkable game.

1.  Tomb Raider (PS3)
2.  Brothers:  A Tale of Two Sons (PS3)
3.  Puppeteer (PS3)
4.  Final Fantasy XIV:  A Realm Reborn (PC)
5.  Bioshock Infinite (PC)

I'm late in posting (and I know you've all been waiting with bated breath slywink ), but my GOTY would have to be State of Decay. I don't care for zombie games normally, but this one uses zombies as the background for a human drama. I actually care about some of the characters, and even started over fairly late in the game because there was no way I was going on without Marcus. Definitely under the radar for me, as I didn't know too much about it going in.
