According to the Wiicast, both first party Wii titles Disaster: Day of Crisis and Project H.A.M.M.E.R. have been indefinitely postponed according to a Nintendo press rep.  "They're not officially cancelled but I wouldn't count on seeing them until 2010 if at all."

The good news is that it's one less game with an idiotic acronym N.A.M.E.  The bad news is that there are two less original games coming for a system that really needs them.

Of course, this could be some April fool's thing, but he posted it yesterday and as stated both games have been removed form Nintendo's website.  Time will tell.

Hmm, and Disaster could have been a good title - that's too bad.

I wouldn't be surprised, but who the hell runs the Wiicast? I'll wait for IGN or 1up to confirm it. Who is this guy's Nintendo Rep? The fact that he doesn't give a name bothersome. However the fact that they don't have the games listed on their site anymore is the biggest form of confirmation. Eh, it would stink defnitely, but I wouldn't put much credence into it until there is a better source.

I've never even heard of those games anyway.

They shouldn't be throwing out some false hope in the form of "it's not officially cancelled" though, postponed indefinitely usually means just that.

DICE pulled off a "postponed indefinitely" on Battlefield 2 on the PSP and people are still hoping it's going to come out. They'll be hoping for a long, long time.

If this is true, it's too bad as I had some interest in both titles.

Didn't know anything about HAMMER but the news about Disaster is disappointing.

I was horrified it was metroid too. If they delay it to 2008 I will be weeping rivers.

Disaster never had any footage of gameplay that gave me any idea what the game was going to be like, but there was something about all that HAMMER swinging that looked cool, even though I wondered if your wrist would get dizzy.

Okay, I just listened to Wii.IGN.com's Wii-k in review podcast, and they just said that Hammer and Disaster are both still coming. The Podcast was from 4-2-07, and to be honest IGN is plugged in a lot higher than a smaller site. I do think it is weird that they aren't listed on their site, but several other games aren't on the site as well, like Battalion Wars 2, hell even Super Mario Strikers Soccer Charged isn't on there, and it's coming out in Europe in MAY with a fairly decent online mode.

Of course if you go check the link again you will see that it was an April Fool's joke....

Which part was the "joke," the podcast or the news article that the titles are indefinitely postponed?
