Got this off of major nelson's site - apparently the offical xbox.com newsletter mentions that SF2 will show up on the Marketplace today. Can anybody confirm or deny his glorious rumor? I'm cutting out from work early if its true....

Haven't seen it yet... I'm thinking we might as well add a day to any date they give out for putting something up.

Eh, we'll get it when we get it. It's pathetic to see just how many people post on Major's blog comments like:
"Wtf were iz Street Fighter II at?"
In other gaming-related news. Just wait people!

A recent story over at www.joystiq.com says that it won't be coming out until the end of April. It'll cost between 800-1200 points ($10-15).

You know, for a retail disc online-enabled SF2, I'd pay that. So for this release, I'd probably still be willing to pay that.
I think $15 would be my ceiling on that though; any higher and I'd have to take a pass.

I don't get everyone's fascination with the Street Fighter series. It was fun...10 years ago as was Coach K basketball, Double Dragon, and Tecmo Superbowl. But times change and regardless of the nostalgia factor, there are just better games for me to spend my time on. I might buy it if it was priced like the other arcade games, but there's no way I'm spending $15 on a 10 year old game. But hey, that's just me.

To this day, SFII remains may favorite fighting game of all-time. The allure of playing against my buddies over Live with worldwide rankings (and achievements!) is too much to pass up.

I don't think any fighting game in the last 10 years has surpassed Street Fighter 2 in terms of having balanced characters. And, IMO, skill was a much greater determining factor in SF2 than it seems to be in more modern fighting games.

Alright, so this then is getting into the topic of the game balance (which I thought was great in SF2 once you learned all the fighters). Who is each person's personal favorites? Mine are: Chun Li - I always dig the agile fighters Ken - The better brother! E.Honda - Brutal once you get the hang of him. And no, that slap-happy hand move is not all that great, except in a few circumstances, imo.

I'm all for any and every old school arcade that comes to the marketplace.
I don't see why companies don't unleash a flood of these titles. People crave these retro games and the publishers just sit on them. I would much rather play quality ports rather than poorly emulated roms. The developement costs have to be minimal, but they are too afraid to pull the trigger.
I hope we start seeing some scrolling shooters. These have been and always will be some of my favorites. Give me some of these, please.
Eighting, Raizing, Irem, these guys make insane shooters
Let's hope we see a lot more classic arcade titles.

Mine are :
Ryu - Focus, Form and Function. Vanilla grade fighter. E.Honda - 100 hand slappin' you down in the corner.
I also liked M.Bison for the cheap factor (head dance) and Sagat due to his remarkable resemblance to Bob Sagat (no relation). Angry, ripped and scarred.

And there was a top-down shooter that I loved (one of the first "3d" games). I bought a 4MB ATI Mach 64 with the addon to play it. Then the Voodoo came out and borked EVERYTHING!

Ok, people need to stop bumping this thread. Every time I see it rise to the top, I get all excited and hope that SF2 has been released.*
*And yes, I realize that by posting this I'm bumping the thread myself. I admit it, I'm a hypocrite.
