Ok, with the OP out of the way...how weird is it that this is 360 and XB1?  On one hand it's good that MS is still supporting the 360 with first party games, but on the other releasing the same game on both platforms has to somewhat hurt upgrade incentives.  I can't really remember any other first party games being crossgen like that*, that's usually the domain of the 3rd parties.

Also while some of these crossgen games have certainly been good, I'm ready for crossgen to die.  Let's see these new boxes really strut their stuff.  Having to support the 360/PS3 can only be holding some of these titles back.

*just remembered Nintendo did it with Twilight Princess on the Wii/Gamecube.

Maybe they're trying to shift the growing perception that MS has been abandoning its early supporters?

Maybe this was being worked on for the 360 for a long enough time that it's just naturally grown into an Xbone game?

Either way, I, too, would rather we got to the fully developed next gen games already.

One could hope that they would have the resources to make platform specific versions.

It's still diluting the resources.

I don't think it's a big deal and they still have a tremendous base with the 360.

With Titanfall, the 360 version was outsourced to a completely different company, wasn't it?  Meaning it wouldn't have had any impact on the quality of the XB1 version?

I generally agree with everything forge said.  It seems odd to put a flagship series title (even if it's an offshoot) on both platforms when they so badly need people to have more compelling reasons to want an XB1.  At the very least they should offer a 360 to XB1 upgrade path like was done at launch.

But Bullwinkle's theory of it having started as a 360 title also makes sense.  I'll delay my concerns about the cross-gen release for when we actually get to see some more screenshots and video to see if the XB1 version really does look compromised for this.

Recent Twitter posts imply it's the same deal with Horizons, and there is a second studio working on the 360 version.

In that case, the situation is pretty sweet for consumers but still a bit of a headscratchy move on MS's part.

I enjoyed the first Horizon much more than the base Forza games, despite the dumb music festival setting, so I'll definitely be picking this one up on the Xbone.

Also, I find it really funny that Microsoft is damned if they do, damned if they don't.  When they dropped original Xbox support right after the 360 came out everybody gave them hell for years.

Now that they still have some support for the 360 with the Xbox One out for less than 6 months everybody is questioning whey they have games coming out for both.  Make up your minds, weirdos!  Tongue

They've released a list of the first 100 cars, which looks like a nice variety of road, rally and offroad cars from various eras.

I agree with this 100%. When I was playing Forza... 5? all I was thinking was how much I preferred Horizon. I'm very excited about Horizon 2 but I will be doing my best to wait until Christmas.
