you could drive both cars without a spoiler, then both with and notice the spoiler has different effect on handling on each.  that's not very far fetched at all

Do you think the gizmodo guy did that? I'm imagining he just drove a few different cars and somehow came up with "the spoiler physics are amazing!"

It's hard to explain, but aero grip has a different feel from mechanical grip, and there's also the issue that to increase aero grip you go FASTER whereas obviously faster speeds cause you to run out of mechanical grip...

That said, I'd be a little surprised if a) you can actually feel this difference in the game and b) if the gizmodo guy has relevant experience with aero cars.

I would actually not be surprised if you can feel it in the game personally.  Though I'll still side with you guys doubting the review guy slywink

Not sure if this a Porsche issue, or EA licensing trying to hurt the competition.

NFS:R is launching the same day....

doubt I'll get NFS:R right away with Forza 5.  mixing two different racing games with 2 different handling styles doesn't work well for me.

Article over on forzamotorsports.net about the Forza 5 Launch Rewards. Basically if you are Tier 2 or above (tiers are gained by playing all the Forza games starting with Forza 2) you get free cars and cash when Forza 5 is launched. Since I'm Tier 5 already, I would be getting all the cars and the cash. That Ferrari F12berlinetta and the McLaren P1 both look sweet.

However, I'm still on the fence as to whether I want to spend half a grand for another Forza game  Roll Eyes

Article on Quarter To Three, Forza 5 offers fewer next-gen cars than before:

Quote
Forza 5 launches on the Xbox One with over 200 cars in its roster as well as 16 tracks. Turn 10 announced that for $49.99, gamers can pick up a Season Pass that will give them six monthly DLC packs of 10 additional cars each. Even with those extra cars, the list of cars and tracks in Forza 5 is about half as long as its predecessor. Notably, Nurburgring is one of the missing venues. Forza 4 shipped with 26 tracks and over 500 cars. Eurogamer asked Dan Greenawalt of Turn 10 why the next-gen game ships with less content than the previous installment.

“We’re looking at laser scanning of everything moving forward – that’s what it comes down to. We want that to be the standard for next-generation. Our goal’s not to carry old content over – and even with all the cars, we did the same process. There were some inaccuracies, and some cars were old-spec that we’d updated from Forza 2 to 3 to 4. But they didn’t have the poly count where we wanted it – and they weren’t as easy to up-res, so we just recaptured them. Some of them, the spec was good and we could add polygons where we needed them. So it came down to this rating system – and any track or car that wasn’t an A grade got either chucked or recaptured.”

Greenawalt mentioned that additional DLC tracks may also be coming. Forza 5 launches on November 22nd.

Yeah, cutting out almost half of their tracks and more than half of their cars is just bullshit.  Especially when they already have 50 cars that they're going to be charging an extra $50 for in the next few months.

I don't consider 14 tracks to be nearly enough to keep me interested for very long.  I think I will probably just cancel my preorder at this point.

This gives the feeling of holding back content for DLC packs.  As much as I love the Forza series, I have no interest in playing it with what amounts to a subscription model.  It should be enough that I happily line up to buy each new iteration.

One thing to consider with the cars (not the track omissions - that's just stupid) is that they started from the ground up, and *all* cars have full autovista with writeups and recordings.

I don't need four kinds of civics. That's just me - but I like a buffet of flavours that vary off. None of my cars are in there.

I haven't played a Forza game since the first one, so I'm still getting it as well. For the life of me I can't see why anyone would need 200 cars, much less 500, but then again I'm not nearly as hardcore a racing game enthusiast as a lot of people.

I don't think I ever collect all the cars available in a racing game, but more cars available means there's a better chance of my particular favorite cars being in the game.

of course with 300 cars you could name each one after a Spartan and name your racing team Team Sparta.

If you're at all considering Forza 5, and are holding on to how Forza 4 was, you should probably watch this interview.

http://revision3.com/rev3gamespreviews/forza5-interview

This has gone to my must-have list - frankly, the fact that the racing isn't simply a ladder-climb and "there is 1st, and the rest are losers" mentality scrapped - this might just be the racing game to beat.

oh, and did anyone else get a code for a free Audi for Forza 5?  it's a legitimate email, but the code doesn't seem to work when I enter it into Xbox.com; anyone else get one, and if so were you able to redeem it via the 'redeem code' option?  I'm leaning towards it being that, for some reason, the website won't recognize codes for XB1 stuff until the 22nd.

Rivals might be a surprise for me - I didn't touch it at E3 (too many sports games to see).

The Crew is one I'm watching for as well - I'm glad Ubi isn't forcing that one out the door - I'd rather it be done right then simply finished.
