This may be a new Forza game,it may be a new DLC feature for either Forza 4 or Forza Horizon, who knows..and yeah i just put 'Xbox' for now as well

Quote
Microsoft has trademarked Forzavista, pointing not only to an upgrade of the Autovista feature found in Forza Motorsport 4, but also presumably to a new Forza Motorsport title.

The trademark listing for Forzavista says "a feature of interactive video game software which allows players to obtain statistical information of internal and external features of a vehicle and to virtually navigate and operate those vehicles."

Forza Motorsport 4 had a feature called Autovista, in which players could walk around cars unlocked via challenges and listen to a narrated description of various car parts.

In that version of the feature you could get in the car and start the engine. In Forzavista it sounds like you’ll be able to do a little more, thanks to the “operate those vehicles” description.

All of that’s rather interesting then, but perhaps the most notable thing is that it suggests we’ve got a new Forza Motorsport game on the way. And guess what? There’s a new Xbox being announced tomorrow.

Forza Motorsport 5 will run at 60 frames per second with a native resolution of 1080p, according to a spokesperson for Turn 10 Studios.

Turn 10 Studios content director John Wendel confirmed the specs, saying he believed the studio is "uniquely positioned" to deliver on the benchmarks.
"We're a huge epic game that's going to be running at 1080p, 60fps on the next-gen console, so it's an incredible opportunity on one hand, but you have to be incredibly flexible and agile and self-aware on the other hand," Wendel told Gamespot.

Forza 5 will be available at launch exclusively for the Xbox One.

The 1080p 60 fps thing is going to be really refreshing to see on consoles in this coming generation. It won't last, of course. By the end it'll be back to 720p 30 fps, but at least we'll get to see the other side of the coin, something that was next to impossible on PS3/360. smile

It's also nice to see that, despite rumors to the contrary, this game will be both 1080p and 60 fps.

Quote
Microsoft's Xbox One launch title Forza 5 will not be operable unless users download a free package of data from Xbox Live, a developer working on the game has confirmed.

Dan Greenawalt, the studio head at Forza creator Turn 10 Studios, told IGN that "when you first boot up the game we're going to ask you to log in, and when you log in you're going to get a whole bunch of content: tracks and cars. That is required content to play the game."
Quote
Effectively, the mandatory day-one patch means that Forza cannot be played unless the game connects to the internet. Greenawalt's explanation was that content has been added late into the production schedule, though he didn't elaborate further.

It is possible that this predicament is a by-product of Microsoft's Xbox One policy reversal. On June 19 Microsoft announced that, "as a result of feedback from the Xbox community", it had decided to scrap the system's always-online requirement.

Greenawalt did not discuss the policy reversal and how it affected his studio.

Announced at the Xbox reveal event in May, Forza 5 features a flagship AI system - called 'Drivatars' - that apparently mimics the traits of real-world players.

Greenawalt said: "You do have to connect the game in order to get the latest Drivatars, because we need as many people training them as possible. And so rather than having just a launch-day set that was created by us, every day that people race is going to make the Drivatar set that much more accurate, that much more diverse, that much more interesting.

I really hope they can stick to it.  The lack of true 1080p is my biggest problem with console gaming.  Going back to COD on 360 after playing PC games is always painful with the blur

Actually, what happens is:

1) The Kato drivatar, effectively an AI assignment for your driving skill, is going to be learning how you play, and emulating that in other people's games.

2) It will be racing when you're not.

3) It will be making you money for its races as well.

My only concern is how they stem douchebaggery (eg: racing in the wrong direction). I'd also be concerned with drinking and driving - your skills impaired with mess with the stats for your "normal" drivatar history. So I guess the other question is whether there is an "off-the-record" mode.

What kind of setup do you have?  I was looking at Obutto but seems like a bit much.  I tend not to use my steering wheel much just because it's so inconvenient to pull up a table in front of my sofa every time.  But I lost most of my furniture recently to flood so I am looking into other options.

Not to be grumpy about it, but I'm thinking that the cars are going to be pretty much the same as the previous version or two. We'll get a number of the same tracks as well. What will draw me in is having significantly more tracks than F4, more play modes and some new bells and whistles. They need to keep the good features of Forza 4; the nuances of tuning, the painting features, and the other immersive touches.

Also I'd really like them to make a single player version of what's available in MP; select the cars with a bunch of options (class, PI min/max, years, weight, hp, etc), the track, the laps, and then let me fill the rest of the field with AI cars. I'm doing that now, but it's a bit of a kluge.

I'd be perfectly happy if they added nothing new, or even cut a few features if it could have cutting-edge next-gen graphics.  Not just for the cars and tracks but weather effects as well.  But this being a launch title, I guess that is an unrealistic expectation.

I don't think so, Tim.

Turn 10 is about as close to MS as you get - and since the development of Forza is key to the console, I doubt we're going to see some lackluster effects.

Quote from: jztemple2 on September 25, 2013, 09:17:23 PM

I believe that is coming - there is no more "AI" ... they're using Drivatars from real people, and as the game learns their driving methods (IE cutting corners, and other habits) you'll be put against people who are your calibre (regardless if that means you're a terrific/crappy driver). When you're not playing your Drivatar will be out there racing for you as well, making you money. So even when you're not playing, I can still race and lose against you.

Yay me. slywink

In short, it sounds like that is EXACTLY what the single player experience is - multiplayer without "real" people.

Known as the “home of British Motor Racing,” the Silverstone Circuit is 3.6 miles long and features 18 corners ranging from high-speed sweepers such as Woodcote to intricate series like the Maggotts and Becketts corners. The Silverstone Circuit was laser-scanned during development to provide the most accurate rendering of the circuit to be found in any racing game.

Trigger-based haptic feedback. A little too much back-patting, but at least there is ingame footage and details about how the triggers help people learn to drive better.

Gizmodo Australia's hands on with 5 launch games.

their take on Forza 5:

Quote
The paint job is way slicker as you’d expect, but they’ve also really doubled down on the physics engine — the difference is really noticeable. I also love the little details like the way each car’s spoiler behaves realistically and differently for each model. While it’s still a racing game, dismissing it as ‘more of the same’ wouldn’t be accurate.

I notice these things  ninja

If you just modify the spoiler on a single car, sure, but driving a Porsche and thinking "man, is this spoiler ever acting different than the spoiler on that WRX!" seems a bit far fetched considering all the other differences that would contribute to the different feeling.

you could drive both cars without a spoiler, then both with and notice the spoiler has different effect on handling on each.  that's not very far fetched at all
