Also coming next week is this game from upstart (and Vin Diesel backed) developer Starbreeze.  The word has been nothing but great on this game so far.  In fact I just got my EGM yesterday and they gave it 9.0/8.0/9.0 and were generally surprised by how good this game was.

The only negative thrown around is that the game is relatively short, but everything else about it is great.  Vivendi/Universal is really pushing this game along with Universal releasing 2 DVDs to coincide with the release of the new movie (An SE of Pitch Black and a new animated DVD).

So, anyone have any insights?  Are you looking forward to it?

I am still confused by what is so exciting about it.  It is just a FPS as far as I can tell.  Perhaps a good one but nothing about it says "inovative" or special really.

I mean it may be wonderful, but I must admit I still find FPS on the Xbox to be a chore and would prefer them on the PC.

I'm not as high on this game as other people are.  In its defense it isn't a straight-on FPS and is more like Deus Ex or Thief where there are RPG and stealth elements included along with the shooting.

The game looks really good, I just wasn't super enthused after playing the OXM demo of it.  Spent far more time playing Metal Slug 3 on that demo disc.

I was initially 'In!' but after playing the demo, I'll agree with some of you in saying that it just didn't wow me like I expected. Gameplay didn't really stand out.

I'll go the other way, and say that I'm more interested after playing the demo.  My first time through, I pretty much just ran in guns blazing, and decided it was a fairly standard shooter with fantastic graphics.

Then I tried it again, but took a much more methodical approach, sneaking and doing stealth kills where I could, and putting more thought into gun battles.  What I ended up finding was that there was a surprising amount of depth.  I almost approached it as a more action-y Splinter Cell.  Many firefights were made easier by taking out lights, forcing the enemy to turn on their flashlights, and allowing me to take them out one by one by snapping their necks.  I've also heard at least three different ways of taking out the soldier in the powered armor at the end of the demo.  You can blast him, which takes a lot of ammo and skill, get above him and shoot the weak spot on top of his head, or just sneak past him to the elevator.  Good stuff.

Well, I was too cheap to spend the 8 bucks on the demo disc, so I figured I would spend that cash and rent Riddick for a couple weeks as soon as it comes out. Personally, from just a few previews and screenshots I have looked at, I am really stoked for this one!! After watching Pitch Black a week ago, I have gotten hooked on the RIddick universe.

Damned OXM....sigh....two months they have screwed me, first when Ninja Gaiden was on the disc and I just mysteriously didn't get a disc, and now I have a corrupted disc as I wanna try out this demo.  With all the hooplah at E3 I didn't get a chance to try it out. :/

Yo guys, I found a pretty craze preview over at http://xbox.ign.com/articles/519/519130p1.html

It was super super complimentary. I mean, it really made me feel like "damn, this game could be something special". So, presuming that IGN wasn't paid for that preview (you never know), I can't imagine that the game will rate less than a 9.0 or something when they review it. I would be shocked if it did.

The preview did mention only 10+ hours though frown

I've found that previews from major online places tend to be on the gushing praise side.  Case in point is Enter the Matrix, which IGN (don't remember the others) heaped praise upon during the preview stage.

Not saying Riddick sucks, but previews seem to be of the gushing variety whether the game is truly top notch or crap.

IGN gives out alot of 9s, especially compared to other gaming websites.  So, I wouldn't give their score much credibility unless the legitimate sites award similar scores.

IGN flushed any shred of credibility they had down the drain when they awarded Black and White a 9.7.  And then they gave MOO3 a 9.2.  Seriously, that shitty website is sometimes just plain wrong.

I liked Enclave by the same folks, but for some reason Riddick doesn't do it for me.  It looks great, but I get frustrated having to switch through weapons to get 'hands free' so I can jump up to a box ledge.
