this is some cool stuff, right here okay, first did you buy Pinball FX1 and any of the DLC tables?..if so,when you download Pinball FX2(which is free as it acts as a hub for all tables),you can replay your old tables with new Physics, new Graphics and new achievements...and then if you are still hungry for more tables, you can buy the new FX2 tables 4=800 points, and of course you can buy the old tables through FX2 as well(doesn't mention Excalibur which i think was the last table released for FX1) October 13th release date let TXB explain it better than me How much is Pinball FX 2 going to cost? It’s actually a bit of a complicated question, so we’re breaking it down piece by piece. The first thing to understand is that Pinball FX 2 is a free platform download for any Xbox LIVE Arcade user, providing access to the entire library of Pinball FX 2 content. Within the platform, you can demo every table before making a purchase.
The second thing to understand is that current Pinball FX owners are being well taken care of. When you download the Pinball FX 2 platform, you will simply import your existing content, this is FREE. That’s no strings attached backwards compatibility! The original tables will not only receive graphics and physics updates, they will also receive NEW Achievements!
If you have never purchased Pinball FX content, you will be able to buy the Classic Collection (Speed Machine, Extreme Agents, and Buccaneer) within Pinball FX 2 for 800 MS points. The original DLC tables (Nightmare Mansion, Rocky & Bullwinkle, Street Fighter II Tribute Table, and Earth Defense) will each be available for 240 MS points.
Pasha, Rome, BioLab & Secrets of the Deep represent the Pinball FX 2 Core Collection. This four table collection will be available on October 13th, 2010 for 800 MS points.
The Pinball FX 2 platform provides unparallel flexibility when deciding what you want to buy. Try each table, make sure it’s what you want, and then make the purchase. We are happy to provide backward compatibility to all our Pinball FX fans, and we know they will really enjoy the new content.
Secrets of the Deep Revealed!
Explore the depths of the sea and uncover a mysterious and beautiful world filled with strange creatures and priceless ancient artifacts! Secrets of the Deep joins Pasha, Rome and BioLab as the Pinball FX 2 Core Collection.
Pinball FX 2 will be available on Xbox LIVE Arcade, October 13th as part of Game Feast presented by Microsoft. About Pinball FX 2
Pinball FX is back, and it’s better than ever! Pinball FX 2 offers improved graphics and a host of new features for novices and experts alike: a new state-of-the-art physics model that surpasses anything available so far, Operators Menu with custom settings and advanced play info, automatic in-game challenges against your friends, and split-screen local multiplayer mode—a first in video pinball history! Pinball FX 2 offers full backwards compatibility for Pinball FX owners—download Pinball FX 2 free and play all your Pinball FX tables within Pinball FX 2!

I owned the first version of the game, including every single table. From what I've read, I'll still be able to play those tables on FX2 - so it looks like I only need to cough up 800points to buy the new core collection?

i played a lot today,i have not got the new tables yet...but Excalibur table is 10x better than it was on FX1...the Bullwinkle table IMO,is not as good,as they more or less put a brick wall in the middle of the table and it just feels as though you are hitting that all the time
the Extreme table:-the old version or the new version its still crap...but all other tables are great,i got new love for the Pirates table and the Agents table

No licensed tables, but much better graphically, IMO. Probably physics-wise, too.

Are the tables from the 1st Pinball FX that were upgraded for this worth it? Also I see other tables listed for DLC (street fighters, etc...) are these old or new?

Are the tables from the 1st Pinball FX that were upgraded for this worth it? Also I see other tables listed for DLC (street fighters, etc...) are these old or new? The other DLC is not new. The tables that came with the first game are a little weak in comparison to what's come since. They're still fun, but you can probably skip it until you find a sale. Most of the other DLC is quite good. The haunted mansion one is a bit basic, perhaps. And as mo mentioned, Rocky & Bullwinkle has been altered, tragically (I don't know why I have a personal affinity for that table). It's not bad, but it used to be a stand-out. Excalibur and SFII are both worth it, IMO. Overall, the new tables are outstanding and there's fun to be had from all of the tables that came before, but if you're not looking to take the full plunge, get the last two I mentioned. Don't forget, though, that you can do trials of all of these (I think...I'm not sure about the PFX1 tables).

i think i was on Camera 1 on most and then the Agents table,it was for a different view...and i am unsure whether its for the better,i need to mess about some more, there are like 6 different views from the X button, some are of just the top part of the table which i don't understand,i don't think you can even see the flippers

Most of these are frustrating, but 4 seems to manage it reasonably and still give you a closer view of what's going on up top. However, as I said, none of the views seem perfect.

Yeah, I was using 6 for a while for that reason, but it made things so small, I had a hard time seeing the action at the top of the screen.

Short Review.
I've played pinball for a looong time. I've had early 90's pinball machines in my house and played/repaired/loved them. I played the cunning development games more than I care to think about (Timeshock, etc). PFX 1 wasn't very good. The flippers were so strong they'd have broken a real world machine to pieces in a few minutes. The physics felt like you were playing with a ceramic ball. The tables were also not very complex. Sound was lackluster. PFX 2 fixes all of these things. The old tables for the most part play better too, which is a bonus. Huge props for updating the old tables and I bought FX2 sight unseen just because of the goodwill from Zen.
BUT. There is one big problem with these tables in general. I can't figure out why they do this. The mode start shots are generally the most difficult in the game on every table. This makes the most fun part of modern pinball, the "mini games", the most difficult thing to enjoy. I don't care if the modes themselves are tough, they should be. Making them hard to start makes the tables frustrating and probably alienates a lot of first timers who would enjoy pinball. Look at the 90's Williams or Data East machines. The modes are fun and challenging, but on most machines you START the modes by accident it's so easy to do.
Does anyone else feel the same way?
EDIT: OK, I take it back, it's only Pasha and Agents that are really killing me on the mode start, the other ones are pretty good. The new tables really are excellent all around. I haven't gotten too far in any of them. The Roman table seems pretty standard, the modes I've done are very fun, especially the shipwrecking one. Biolab is so busy I haven't figured out much other than there's a lot of things to hit. Pasha is probably fun but has been annoying me. The Undersea table has some gimmicks (magnets, shooters and swinging balls) and so far seems to be the most accessible of the tables. The swinging wrecking ball thing is well executed. I don't know how I'll go back to the older tables

I actually grew up playing pinball on machines that kept score with rotary dials. I thought Pinball FX was nearly on par with the old Pro Pinball series.
Sorry to hear they changed B&W. I don't remember the Excalibur table, when did that come out?
As for camera, I can't play unless the camera is fixed (as in doesn't move...not as in repaired).
You know...it's a real shame they haven't brought the Zen Pinball tables here...

Got myself on the leaderboards. 155M on Biolab, good for 4th place. Unfortunately, all my other scores on the other tables combined are less than that. My "strategy" was so be so awful at the Reflex mode that I had to play it about 15 times before I finished it. I got a lot of points by being so inept. Unfortunately I lost my ball as the display was doing the animation for completely upgrading my creature, so I don't know if any new modes are unlocked after the 4 upgrades. Pasha, which was my least favorite, is now my favorite. Once I figured out to hold the right flipper out of the way when shooting for the palace, things got a lot more fun. I can't wait for new tables in the future.

Added. The whole pyramid scheme scoring and live goals make this feel like a bigger upgrade than it is. I think the biggest improvement is the smoother scrolling. I can now use some of the closer views. Make sure you all improve your scores. I need more wizard points.

I really like the operators menu too. I've always loved games that keep detailed stats. Also, pretty soon the kids will be able to play this one and it'll be nice to give them an easy setup to keep them interested.

Bah, I'm not even in it. I can't remember if pingwrx is here or at OctopusOverlords, but his scores on Pinball FX2 are just silly. I can't even bear to *look* at his pacifish score on Geometry Wars 2. The sum total of all of my games of Geometry Wars probably doesn't add up to half of that score.

Feel free to add me. Gamertag = dangerpimp. People shouldn't have too much trouble beating any of my scores, though.
