One of my favorites of all time is up this morning and I got to play a game.  Controls are fine and game is smooth.  Don't expect any extras, though, as this one is just like Galaga in that there are no extra features other than Leaderboards and Achievments.  I forgot to check whether you can start from the last board you lost all your lives on like in Galaga since I only played one game.  Maybe someone else can confirm.

Oh I'll have to grab this tonight.  Not quite sure if it's worth buying just for achievements and the leaderboard though...

People would pay money for something just because it has achievements to aquire?  Or because of a high score table?  Please tell me I'm not the only one who bases my game purchases solely on whether or not I want to play the game?

As for Pac-Man, though, I think I'll hold off until Ms. Pac-Man comes out.  It seems like there was a Ms. Pac-Man machine in the back of every pizza place I saw growing up.

Some people might; I wouldn't...  The 'not sure' some sarcasm that just didn't come across properly.  If, like Galaga, can only play the first three levels; that could make it worth a purchase...

I admit I don't actually know the difference between Pac Man and Ms. Pac Man.  Wasn't it just the bow in the hair?

Well, visually she's got a bow, a dimple? lipstick?

For me it's all the other exra touches.  The "Starring: Inky, Blinky, Pinky, Clyde" intro in attract mode, the little interludes like "Act 1: the Meeting" where you see how Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man fall in love or something (it's been a while).  Also, the Ms. Pac-Man music--both for the intro and for the Acts--rank higher on the nostalgia scale for me than Pac-Man's.

Pac-Man had one maze and stationary fruit - Ms. has four mazes and the fruit moves around.

Don't forget about the transportation tunnels that would travel you from one side of the stage to the other.

Both games have that, though.

Oh, I also read on GAF that Pac Man does indeed have the ability to start from the last stage you did, so it is like Galaga.

The difference, if I remember correctly, is that Ms. Pac-Man maps have two.  I seem to remember Ms. Pac-Man had a better random number generator for the ghost AI or something like that, so you couldn't run a set pattern and have the ghosts do the same thing every time.

I forgot that Pac-Man had the tunnels.

Little bit of trivia, Ms. Pac-Man was actually created by college students (IIRC) by hacking into a Pac-Man arcade board and making some changes to it.

I do remember that the original Pac-Man could be patterned as stated above, so that much is true. Not sure (but sounds right) about Ms. Pac-Man.

Please tell me that they're going to randomize this release instead of keeping the patterning of the original game.  :? I know, I know; I'm a party pooper, but I'm a big fan of random AI behavior when it comes to arcade games.

I highly doubt that. Do you realize the hell Microsoft (and technically, the guys who ported this) would get if they modified the core game? Maybe there's an 'extra' version included that randomizes things, but the game itself won't change at all.

I bought it last night since only the first two levels are in the demo (from what I read online).

However, I overestimated my skills; I'm not sure that I can actually make it to level 3 !?

With all due respect to Bill, Pac-Man himself is the only Ghostbuster you'll need here.

They'd need to make a special 360 controller with 50x stronger springs in the analog stick or it just won't feel like the same game.

Ok, I tried it and I hate using the 360 controller to move pacman. It will just not respond for me correctly.

No sale. Will emulate instead.

Yeah, I agree. The controls don't feel tight which kills it.
