the next music game for the Kinect from Harmonix.  looks interesting enough for me to keep an eye on it.

Players use their body movements to like magic transform a colorful, vivid interactive world inspired by the original film. Like the Dance Central video games, Fantasia: Music Evolved makes use of the Kinect motion sensor; its camera captures the player's body and puts their silhouette on screen. Fantasia: Music Evolved is expected to be released next year for Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

I saw this on Kotaku before

the Xbox launch game Halo was, according to Microsoft, "Combat Evolved" and the XBox 360 launch game Geometry Wars was "Retro Evolved" and this Xbox-only new Fantasia game is "Music Evolved"

Tagline: If you felt that flailing around with a plastic guitar let you keep too much dignity, here's your chance to get rid of your dignity altogether by flailing around with an air guitar!

I'm assuming they'll actually have some Disney music in this, or else that Fantasia connection is incredibly tenuous.  Also, for a game called Disney Fantasia, prominently featuring a song that's all about having hot sex seems a bit strange.

I'm looking forward to this between enjoying Harmonix, and seeing what the Kinect CAN do, and the new Kinect hopefully being more responsive.  Staying optimistic, if the tech can do it, I think Harmonix can.

Our review is up. Ron struck my Disney fan chord in his review and now I'm debating on buying this game and a Kinect. If anyone wants to sell me theirs on the cheap... =)

beat the narrative, but still have a ton to unlock.  Was up all night.  Had a lot of fun and literally worked up quite a sweat

Very tempted by this one as well. I'm going to try the demo as soon as I get home tonight.

I figure I may as well have some reason to keep my Kinect turned on.   icon_biggrin

Played about to where I got in the demo (though the tunes were different, maybe).

Really great, and there's sonething fantastic about swiping your arms about, conductor-style. It really makes you feel connected to the music. When it works.

I've fiddled with the adjustments, and I can't seem to get the timing right. I'm flailing too quickly or too slowly. It's not a big problem until you get to some speedy ones, but I can see this being an issue down the road.

I feel like Harmonix calibrations are usually more involved.

After trying the demo I'm pretty sure the actual gameplay is going to be too hard for my kid, but I think she'd still have fun dancing to the music and flailing her arms alongside me if I played.

In the core non-party game mode, is it possible for me to play 2-player and unlock new songs and remixes even if my 4-year-old Player Two is completely failing?

I played through the demo last night as well, and it was a lot of fun. In a less crowded gaming season I'd pick this up without a second thought, but with a ton of AAA titles coming in the next few weeks, I'll have to pass for now and wait for a sale later on.

Still, it exceeded my expectations. I found it quite challenging - I'm usually really good at music games but it took me a few tries to wrap my brain around the timing on this one. I'm also a big Disney fan, so I really enjoyed the artwork and presentation.

Tycho at PA holds forth on it today.  The attached comic is only tangential to the actual product.
