They finally have both a name and a release date:  Fall 2015

http://news.xbox.com/2014/05/games-halo-journey-announcement

Quote
"In the tradition of every Halo game since its debut in 2001, it is a massive and exciting project," said 343 Industries general manager Bonnie Ross in an official announcement. "Halo 5: Guardians is a bigger effort than Halo 4. That applies to the content and scope of the game, as well as the technology in what's now a brand new and more powerful engine. Certainly there are some core elements carried over from prior games, but we've invested a huge effort in retooling our tech to take full advantage of the Xbox One's hardware and ecosystem to create worlds and experiences worthy of next-gen."

60FPS and a new engine.  I guess they wanted a pre-E3 announcement for people to look forward to.

This may be the most surprising announcement since Uncharted 12. smile

Still the Halo games are generally great so I am in...or I would be if I had and XB One.

Unlike all the other announcements that keep happening.

One of the unactivated features on the Kinect is that it can transform into a R.O.B. robot and help you sort small discs.

I love the new Spartan suit design. I hope Halo 5 introduces some fresh gameplay elements, Halo 4 felt way too rehashed.

I saw this as a prototype.  You attach the recently discontinued Kinect to it as it's eyes and ears.

I wonder how much of this is to get out in front of leaks.  A notorious leaker posted a Guardians of the Galaxy concept art in the Halo thread yesterday, so it appears it was starting to get out there.

This game was technically announced at last year's E3, so it shouldn't exactly come as a big shock that they're going to talk more about it. slywink

Anyone know what's been happening in the Spartan Ops story?

Was there ever a season 2?

The two Spartans on the screen probably means another split narrative. One playing Master Chief adventuring alone, another is a Spartan 3 continuing the Spartan Ops story.

Although Microsoft has yet to confirm it, it looks like an HD collection of Halo 1 - 4 is also coming XBOne.

That's a pretty generous (in terms of content) collection of games.
