I really need to get the first 3 and finish them. I got to the CIA HQ infiltration in the first game and never got back to it, and that was on another X-Box so I'd have to restart it all over again

They also had some footage from the multiplayer preview. Looks like the new MP mode will feature some improvements on the whole spies vs mercs gameplay. Hopefully they'll crush the agro spy menace once and for all.
I dislike how they showed the female lead's death in the trailer. Now I know the brunette Sam was kissing before will most likely die out in the snow.

Splinter Cell: The Chronicles of Riddick. At least that's the impression I got without sound.

I love the IDEA of Splinter Cell more than I love the game. I love playing Splinter Cell, but never came close to finishing one.. after a while I find them tedious... But I will of course buy this one.

But I will of course buy this one. My thoughts exactly! I love the games. I enjoy looking at the games. I'm just not particularly good at them and tend to get frustrated. I have a short fuse with the series after stumbling through the first one. The write-up in GameInformer a few issues back made this game sound great. I like the story. A shame the article pretty much spelled the entire thing out, but I'm still interested. I'm going to be picking it up for sure.

Just a reminder if you guys didn't hear, but Double Agent was recently delayed until September.

I'm in it all the way. I've beaten every one of them at least twice and loved every second of it.

I've enjoyed all of the Splinter Cell games (with Chaos Theory being utterly fantastic) and I'm cautiously optimistic here. The ony things that give me pause are that Ubi Shanghai has design lead (they did Pandora Tommorrow which is the weakest of the franchise IMO) and that they may be diverting to far from the core gameplay.

I'll give the Shanghai team a pass for Pandora since they were origionally only doing the MP part of the game(which was was cool), and the SP portion was added on later.

IIRC, Shanghai had nothing to do with Pandora's MP. Single-player and multiplayer were developed separately. Ubisoft Montreal was the developer for the multiplayer.

I'm guessing you need to be a fan of the series for it to hold any real meaning? Just watched the video and it left me with a big, "Meh."

I am really intrigued by the story in this one-but like Kevin my favorite was Chaos Theory and I HATED Pandora Tomorrow-so I really hope UBIShanghai doesn't fuck this up and change too much. That would seriously vex me.
