The Syndicate name is GamingTrend.  Simple enough!  I'm working on the review, so feel free to join in.

Does this game have an online pass?  I might redbox it, but can't really afford to buy.

It doesn't seem to require a pass.   You get some goodies for getting it new, but no required pass that I can see.

in a nutshell - worth buying or better as a rental. ME3 and The Witcher 2 is on deck and my budget is limited.

Having played the multiplayer Syndicate demo, and now playing the ME3 mp demo, I think I'm going to go ahead and pickup ME3.  It has the added benefit of known quality single player as well.  (though my stupid save games are all PC so I can't 'continue')

Syndicate was fun though, just can't compete with other options imo.

Can't disagree.   ME3 tops Syndicate.   It's better as a rental.

When it is a $20 on demand game, I'd like to see a small group buy it to play together  ninja

at that point I'd probably grab it.

That's my experience as well.  Pick up groups are filled with asshats that ruin it for everyone else.  Playing solo with another friend, or up to 3 other friends is a hell of a lot more fun.

Cabbage Patch Ron called me friend. slywink

Sofar, the only issue for the MP (besides the limitation in the levels for MP) is that the adversarial difficulty doesn't adjust to allow you to complete the missions with less agents active.

First time on the first level with the two of us and we managed to clear it out without too much difficulty. The last boss killed us once or twice - because there are only two of us, the "frozen tag" is more challenging. (revive fallen members without anyone to distract the chaingun-wielding boss).

The second time we played it, I think it took us at least 10 times. Random spawns and experimentation were the real challenge, IMO. Not having enough agents meant you really had to be on top of the combat without any deviation.

I'm not going to steal Ron's review thunder, but suffice it to say that it IS a great multiplayer experience with caveats, and while I have concerns about it, the switch to FPS does the Syndicate mythos justice. If they sequel it, they really need to step some things up.

Ron, if you sign up a dummy account, I'd gladly continue the MP testing... biggrin biggrin biggrin
