Gladius was a mediocre game and sold poorly. Why make another?

Correct on your second point.  Completely wrong on the first.

Gladius was a phenominal game, possibly my all time favorite game from last generation.

If you look at the lackluster reviews, pretty much all of them criticize the slow combat and lack of polish in the same breath they say how deep and engaging the strategy is and how the game kept them playing till 3 in the morning.  One of the ones I saw even knocks the game for taking an hour (wow, a whole hour) to get the hang of the combat.

Gladius was a fantastic game, one that kept me interested all the way to the end.  I would love to see a sequel.

I spent, IIRC, 55 hrs on that game, just playing the one campaign.

I wish I had gone through the 2nd one...though it was virtually the same I think.

Ripten has been posting a lot of rumors as facts lately.  I'd never heard of the site until a month ago.

Hrm... Kotor 3.

Is Bioware involved?

If Yes, then interested.  (KOTOR 1 was great)
If No, then less interested, but still interested. (KOTOR 2 was good, but the ending was weak-sauce)

Yeah wasn't it completely missing.  Blame Lucasarts for pushing it out the door.  It would probably have been amazing if publishers would just let the devs finish properly.

It's been what? Four years? You'll excuse me for just not remembering the ending anymore. smile

Playing the first one, getting outside on the first outside world, and seeing that big creature flying around the world - that was one of my favorite moments in gaming.

Gladius was tremendous.  One of the only 'western' SRPGs around.  The only?

That said, it sold terribly and I would be stunned if another one was made that was anything like the first.  I did hear that there was a sequel to Gladius 2 in development at one point but that it was canceled shortly after the release of the first one.
