Bummer Ceekay, I got the call last night. If they've got it at 11 I'm going to grab it after my 9:30 class. <looks at watch> Which would be right now, crap... <runs off>

Just called EB (I have the local store on speed dial ) and they got it in. Sounds like they have had it for sale since yesterday. If I had only thought to stop in

Okay, got the game. Haven't had time to play yet. Poked around a little bit, you cannot do split-screen over live as far as I can tell. Kinda disappointing after Gears and GRAW. It looks like all of the weapons/faces/etc. were in the demo.
Going to have to borrow papa's camera and get my mug into the game sometime in the next couple of days. Think I'll boot up the campaign to look at the pretty intro, then I'll be back to play later this afternoon/evening.

I picked up my copy at lunch. Along with College Hoops 2k7. It's like I died and went to heaven with both of these coming out on the same day. I will mess around with College Hoops for awhile then later in the evening we can start up a Co-Op deal over Live. Anyone want to join Jarrod, CeeKay and I tonight? I can promise lots of laughing - I tend to shoot at things I could swear are enemies, only to move closer and find out it was a box or something. "What are you shooting at?" "A tango - right in front of me!" "Really? I must have missed him. Was he standing right in front of this crate here, cause it's full of bullet holes?" "Huh... that's funny, he must have run off. Better keep our eyes open..."

would appreciate any word on SP length. I saw the strat guide today and noticed that there are only 6 scenarios/locations-the demo location being one of them. Curious if it is as long as Gears, shorter, or longer.
Thinking of joining my local Blockbuster rental program for this one.

Yeah I definitely felt like there was a glowing neon green bullseye on me for most of the night.
Had fun with Papa, lockdown and Soulchilde playing co-op. Hope to continue that with you guys. Moriarty confiscated the 360 to play some Gears, so I wasn't able to jump back in for a while.
Game is good looking and fun. I finally managed to finish the first two solo terrorist hunts. I might be starting to get a feel for the game after all. As important as cover can be, it seems that if you stay in one place for very long at all, you're asking for a grenade, flank, or just plain bullet in the brain pan.

The game rocks so far. Really. It's awesome.
My one problem is that I really wish they'd kept the pretty bits for multiplayer. It's a small problem though. I only actually noticed it for the first couple games and now it's just kind of.. the way it is. I don't care anymore because it's fun.

It's alright Jarrod; I had my nephew over, who was dying to play, mixed with me wanting to get some College Hoops play in, so after we took our break, I didn't make it back in at all.
I will post some impressions on the impressions thread...
(CeeKay - I got your invite, but was showing my buddy College Hoops - he drove all the way over just to see it. Sorry about that.)

What the hell is it with Ubi, Tom Clancy, and Mexico? GRAW was set there, GRAW 2 is set there, Splinter Cell had a level on cruise ship Mexico-bound, and now the first damn level of R6 Vegas is in friggin' Mexico. As soon as I saw the opening cutscene riding in a helicopter over a Mexican city I thought maybe I put GRAW in by mistake. GRAW hugely disappointed me, so I don't really like being reminded of it immediately in R6.
I think I'm near the end of this damn Mexican level and it hasn't grabbed me so far. First level has been way too much GRAW-like running through mundane alleys and covering on corners instead of the cool R6-like interiors snake camming doors, and breaching and clearing rooms. If what mikeg says is true, and the demo is one whole level, that would mean that would mean I've seen 1/3 of the game, which sounds incredibly slight. I'll put some more time in it this weekend and hopefully my opinion will change.

Actually the demo is set in one of the six locations, but is only about 1/3 of that location. In the demo you start on the roof and slowly work your way down, but never get to the casino floor which makes up the rest of that level. Best way to judge the game length is to play the Mexico Border level and however long that takes you multiply that by 6 and there you go. If it takes you an hour and a half or less, then the game is probably under 10 hours. One good thing, the other five levels are more of what you were looking for. I think the Mexico level is supposed to be the 'training' level. I am on the fence whether to buy it or rent it. Kevin, if you end up not liking it and want to sell it and not lose your shirt, let me know- I might bite. I know I won't play multi cuz I never can sync up with you all on live it seems and won't play with total strangers -albeit, some of you are plenty strange . One encouraging thing is that I have attempted the demo about 10 times and not gotten sick of it. That must be a good sign. Waiting for more impressions and whatnot before I bite either way though. And honestly, GoW has me enthralled. Trying SP on insane and believe me it most definitely is.

Ah, so the demo wasn't the whole level? That is encouraging because the demo lasted me for a while.
The Mexican border level, while obviously a training level, is just too damn long for that. If it was short and sweet, here are your tools and how to use them and now Viva, Las Vegas, then I"d be much happier. I think (hope) I'm near the end though, so maybe a change of scenery will turn things around. I *did* enjoy the demo.

No worries. The co-op game we were trying to setup didn't work- me and papa smuff were having connection issues last night. we both tried hosting and couldn't get into each others games, chat wouldn't work and in Hark's game we couldn't hear each other but could communicate with everyone just fine. Had fun last night with the team survival, but I called it a night just as Harkonis had to restart his game.

Yeah it's weird Ceekay. I'm starting to think that either the dashboard update, or the university have changed something in out network. Still shows as open under the network test, but both papa and I have been having problems with a select group of people connecting to us.

I FINALLY received Rainbow Six Vegas for Christmas and look forward to getting in some co-op action online (assuming there are at least some of you still playing). I have always preferred the Rainbow Six series over Ghost Recon, appreciating the focus on tactics and the slower gameplay of R6 to the war-like gameplay of Ghost Recon. Having really enjoyed our MP sessions with Ghost Recon, I am very excited to finally get to play co-op R6 online.
Once I get a chance to familiarize myself with the controls and the gameplay I will keep a sharp eye for my faithful teammates of wars past. We had a blast with Ghost Recon, and I can only expect that Rainbow Six will be even better. The comforting sound of hepcat's hand-howitzer, Jancelot's calm silence as he slowly works toward understanding the concept of co-operative gameplay, and the warm fuzzy feeling I can only get from a grenade kindly placed at my feet by Siljanus will help to make the terrorist-hunting experience even more immersive. Once I get the hang of the controls I'll keep an eye out for fellow terrorist hunters.

Well, if your skill level is comperable with your performance in PGR, then perhaps it is I who needs to determine which category to put you in (yes, it has been that long since you and I have played a game together :icon_eek:). Perhaps this is one of those rare instances when it is not better to have you behind me. If we add Jancelot and perhaps hepcat to the mix, I think we could have a pretty formidable team. Pete: First thing you need to do is hit 'B'. Do this at the start of every round.
To get that quick unexpected chainsaw kill. Nice.

Hehe. Switching between Gears and R6 and BF2 is always fun. The controls are very similar in most respects, but there are a couple of buttons that are placed differently in each game. Usually leads to at least one accidental grenade/talking when I meant to reload/etc. moment when first playing the new game.

During the Christmas break I played a lot of multiplayer Halo 2 with family and friends while visiting in Pittsburgh. Last night while playing Splinter Cell: Double Agent, as a guard walked by I pressed "Y" to change weapons so that I could use a rubber air foil to knock him out. Imagine my surprise when I jumped to my feet, alerted him to my presence, and was then quickly riddled with bullets. :icon_eek: The first few minutes when changing games are always a bit........."interesting."
