I saw it at the store on Saturday and I was tempted to look at the back of the case and read about it.  But then I realized I'd be picking up a game called "PoPoLoCrois" and quickly put it back with my manhood intact.

Seriously - what's with the name?

The PoPoLoCrois saga, first seen on the original Playstation and continued for PS2, goes portable with an adventure built specially for PSP. A decade ago, an ice demon attacked the Kingdom of PoPoLoCrois. As a heroic white dragon banished the Ice Demon to the World of Darkness, the queen of PoPoLoCrois fell into a deep sleep. Her son, Prince Pietro, must band together with a group of friends on a quest to awaken his mother. Strategically explore a grid layout and battle in a turn-based RPG system. Use magic, attack in tandem, and call in fighting beasts for backup. Beginners can use AI-based, computer-controlled combat, making this an adventure playable by all.

Basic description.  I should have my rental from gamefly sometime this week

I never played the originals, and I have to say I'm really enjoying it.  It captures perfectly what I like in an RPG.  Charm, story, ease of play, compelling leveling to keep you wanting to play.  I picked up Kingdom of Paradise as well, and I played that for maybe half an hour.  It looks like I've played Popolocrois for more than three hours, and I really don't play the PSP much at all.  The only problem I have with it is graphically.  I think the art is wonderful, the fact that it's 2D is a positive thing for me, however, there is serious motion-blur that occurs when you run around areas with really dark or really light patches.  It's very distracting, but not so much that it spoils the game.  I guess I also have a problem with the lack of a journal, as with the map they provide, it's difficult to know where to go next.  It is definitely old school and it's "cute," so if either of those things will turn you off, don't bother, but if that gets you excited, run and get it.
