A little more info: Your character in Journey wakes up with typical game character amnesia, and embarks on a journey to find out who she is and what happened to this world. In the distance she sees a mounting with it's peak glowing, and sets out in that direction.
The game is mostly single player, you're meant to be alone wandering around. However, there is an interesting multiplayer mechanic where there's no servers or matchmaking. Instead, if you're online it will simply find one other person that's playing the same level as you, and link your games together. So while exploring you can just run into other person, or see him going about exploring in the distance. If you meet up, you can explore in co-op, helping each other out, then parting ways. You will only ever see one other person at a time, and it's not guaranteed someone else will show up in a level, they wanted to keep the feeling of isolation.
You're looking for scraps of cloth along the way that do various things, first of which is unlock the pathway to the next area of the game, similar to Flower where you have to open enough flowers. These scraps of cloth also do other things, but I got confused by what they were saying, they either confer one time bonuses of special powers, or simply power up or allow for short duration special powers, such as flight, allowing you to reach new areas.

This episode of the GiantBombcast touched on Journey at about the 42:00 mark. I don't know if Brad Shoemaker was on some sort of mind-altering medication or just being deliberately obstinate, but he spends upwards of five minutes answering questions in the most vague, incoherent ways possible. As Ryan Davis put it, "I feel like I know less about this game than when we started." -Autistic Angel

Just a reminder that this is out today for PS+ members and releases to the unwashed masses next week. $15 either way. I plan on getting this when I get home from work and can't wait to try it.

The game is beautiful. I was playing with another person in my game, but I don't know how. There no single player or coop selection. I also couldn't see how to quit game other than using the XMB.

So, this is a multi-player game of some kind? I installed it last night but only had a chance to crank it up for a few seconds but was surprised to see that you have to agree to their online terms on initial startup. That and there's some kind of trophy for completing a journey 'with the same companion'? Definitely a ThatGameCompany title.

You just run into other companions along the way.

So from what I'm reading, this game is amazing, haunting, beautiful, entrancing.... for about 1 hour. Does that about sum it up? Developers should be throat punched that think 1 hour of gameplay is worth 15 bucks.

It's definitely more than an hour. I've put in more than that already, and I'm not near done. The pace is dependent on you. I'm sure you could not explore and blow through it quickly, but then you're not playing the game the way it's meant to be enjoyed. I have to say, though, that Flower hooked me more than this. It's very pretty, and the movement over the dunes is cool, but I have some sort of disconnect with this one. Part of it is that I'm a little less clear about the game world. It's marvelous to see, but I'm not sure why I'm there. Or what the point is. With Flower there was a sense of averting (or reverting) ecology. Also, doing something in that game would fairly trigger something somewhere else or at least scratch the collection itch. Of course, both of those things are in Journey, but it's fuzzier as to the point of it, it seems. Now I must say, in fairness, I was dead tired when I played the very first part, so I may have brought this on myself, but I'm pretty sure that if I zombied through the first part of Flower, I wouldn't have the same disconnect.

Just completed (the) Journey. While I feel that $15 for under 3 hours is a bit pricey I don't regret buying it at all. Not really much can be said about it other than it's more of an experience than a game. I was actually sad when my first "friend" got separated from me and I never saw him again.

I'm playing the game right now and finding myself increasingly annoyed at the forced multiplayer. I never play MP in games for various reasons. From the descriptions I read about Journey, I thought it was going to be a fleeting appearance by other players who you'd soon lose, but no such luck. If you're "lucky" enough to find another player (which seems to take me all of 5 seconds) you're stuck with that player unless he also tries to just do his own thing. As I'm writing this, I'm taking a break because I was stuck with the same player over several levels and I felt it was ruining what was supposed to be a haunting, personal experience. Instead I'm just annoyed at seeing him jump all around me, even waiting for me if I'm doing something else. When I just stopped a few minutes ago, he stopped as well and waited. I couldn't stand it. Put the game on pause and decided to do something else until the guy tired of me. Of course the game is going to pair me with someone else as soon as I go back, or the guy is still going to be there, waiting. *sigh*
I wish developers would understand that there are some of us who simply can't stand MP. Instead we have Mass Effect 3 and now Journey, both of which think that cramming MP into the SP experience is a good idea. Here's a hint: It isn't.

I would argue the point of this game is to experience it with a random person and not play it solo. It's an amazing experience when playing it with others because it allows you to experience the game together without the stuff that would normally be off putting about multi with the ability to directly communicate. For instance, going through the game with one person up until the end and then losing them somehow. Or, having a great experience e with someone and seeing their name at the end being TapDatAzzzzz69 and realizing that you had a great experience with someone that you would have prejudged.
I hate to say it, but if you're trying to force people to quit and play it solo, you're playing it wrong and the devs have said as much.
