"Videos and previews will not do flower justice; it's a game worth trying for yourself." - Joystiq IGN Rating: 9.0 "Outstanding" - "If you're interested in something very unique and very powerful, Flower is a must-play. It will especially resonate with people that possess a deep connection with nature and spirituality, as it's the type of game that reaches out to us and whispers about the beauty of life -- without saying anything at all"Anyone tried it yet?

What do I shoot? The developer, when you find out how short it is? IGN states: "the game is very short". Might be worth a look. I'm hoping there's a demo.

I'm IN today, too.
The PSN update drives me crazy. Why make it at the end of the day? Even then, it never seems to be consistent, so I wind up checking all the time.

What do you............do in this game?
From Wikipedia: Each level takes place in a different flower's dream as it sits on the windowsill of a dull city apartment. As the player progresses through the game, the apartment and city gradually becomes more vibrant and colourful. The player guides a petal through brightly coloured, abstract fields by tilting the motion-sensitive controller, pressing any button on the controller gives a speed boost. The aim is to guide the petal into other flowers in the field, triggering an explosion of colour that spreads through the game world.

Yeah, it's pretty and ethereal and all that, but there is just nothing, as far as I can see, that is worth doing for more than 10 minutes.
Being artsy fartsy and different, like pretty graphics, does not a fun game make.

Quoting the developer: "We can already predict Flower's reviews: It's a soothing and interactive piece of art, but it's not a game. And we're perfectly fine with that." So I guess you and Mike aren't the target demographic.

(after 3 flowers' worth): far... out... ... & to those saying 'what the fuck?': sure, i know: right now, i could be running around with a bunch of people shooting another bunch of people, or wailing away on a plastic guitar, or playing a simulation of a sport that i could actually be playing - you know, really having some serious video game -style fun, but, hey... what can i say: sometimes i, personally, just gotta stop & smell the roses flowers...

I downloaded it and played it. There's definitely a game there. Much more so than, say, Linger in Shadows. There are goals and obstacles and control by the player to achieve those goals. There are also rewards when you do the things you're meant to do. Game.
That said, there's not much challenge, really, but I've only played one full level, so maybe it gets harder and the obstacles will actually make it difficult for you to get things done.
I understand it may be very short, and so far there doesn't seem to be much to motivate you to go back and retry a level. On the first level, I'm pretty sure I hit everything I was meant to. On the next, though, there may be some hidden patches or other areas, I don't know.
None the less, there's an experience here that's pretty special. Maybe not for everyone, but worth it if you're a little interested.

I just played all the levels and I must say it was a beautiful and remarkable experience. I only unlocked like 2 trophies, so there is much more to this game than floating petals around. Looks like there are all kinds of secret hidden flowers to find and also some other things you can do to unlock trophies. Very glad I bought it.

Yup. You even get a trophy for not playing the game for a week. Now that's a first! I just finished the game and enjoyed it a lot. At its price, it should be a must-have for any PS3 owner. It's a relaxing, enjoyable experience where the point isn't to be challenged by the difficulty (though there are a few mildly tricky parts in one of the levels), but to see everything the game has to offer. There's gameplay, and doubly so if you want to get all the trophies. You could call this game a puzzle game that requires a bit of hand (not finger) gymnastics. Even the trophies are this way, with their descriptions being cryptic puzzles on their own. For example, there's one trophy that requires you to "release all names to the sky". It's up to you to figure out what that actually means. The graphics are beautiful, by the way. It's a nice way to showcase the PS3.

Alright, just finished all the levels (didn't get all the hidden flowers for every level).
Will be up there in my GOTY 2009 list, definitely.
Amazing game, and I was pleased with how the story progressed and where it ended up. Damn, that was awesome.

About all I got from it was industrialization of nature changing the beauty of the place and then you taking it back.

Played through this yesterday. It was an exceptional experience... and I will add, I thought the game had a strong narrative; it's there, though not directly conveyed to you.
The end really wrapped everything up and I just loved it. Loved the game.
