Quote
The developer that made Arkham a household name is back. Rocksteady Studios' Arkham Asylum innovated with the freeflow combat system and stalking gameplay in 2009, and the team blew it all out to an open world in 2011's Arkham City. Rocksteady is hoping to raise the bar even higher on what will be its final Arkham game. Set after the events of Arkham City, Batman: Arkham Knight may just end the Dark Knight's journey.

Rocksteady didn't do Origins, mind you.

What's with this capeless look? He's got to take if off to get in his car?

In the trailer he jumps out with cape wide open so maybe just art for cover?

I really hope this is being developed just for PC and next gen to maximize the Xbone and PS4 power.

I hope the Batmobile doesn't get too much attention. It just wouldn't feel right to have Batman racing back and forth through the streets of Gotham, doing stunts for no other reason than to satisfy the Riddler. I'm having a bit of a hard time imagining just how they're going to have to construct the story to even justify the vehicle's presence to that degree.

Yup. Correct.

PS4, XB1, and PC -only-. No WiiU version.

3rd party development is dead on the WiiU.

I think the main thing is no PS3/360, so they can really take advantage of the new systems.

I'm in as well. Have always been a huge Batman fan and I loved the first two Arkham games. I haven't played Origins yet but I imagine I'll pick it up on sale one of these days just for completion's sake.

Looks nice, but this is not a gameplay trailer in any way, shape or form. There's absolutely no gameplay in it. I wish publishers would call it "in-engine trailer" instead, or something in that vein. Right now they're quite simply lying to their customers.

Man, that royally blows.  What is that, 4 or 5 big titles delayed now?

Did they actually have a delay announcement or just quietly put that at the end of the trailer?

Maybe I'll actually be able to play through Arkham City before then. Have started that game over like 5 times.

I'm kind of glad it was delayed, to be honest. I binged on Arkham Origins trying to finish it up before this came out, and I think I burned myself out a bit on the whole Batman game thing. By 2015 I should be ready to jump back in, but October would have probably been too soon.

Kevin Conray says the wait won't be too long

Quote
"It was supposed to come out in January, we've been working on it for a year and a half, it's still not done. So it's going to come out next January

This would be great if true, but it would be odd seeing such a big name hit right after XMas like that.

Everything about the game looks awesome with the exception of the Mecha-Batman suit. I'm a big fan of the agile martial arts expert take on Batman and if you dress him up in an Iron Man suit it takes that away. But who am I kidding, I will buy the game day 1 and play the heck out of it.

I think the mecha suit is a different character, it's the Arkham Knight not batman

I barely played the last one which is weird considering I played the heck out of all the ones before it.  I'm not sure if I just got tired of same old gameplay.  Hopefully this one will be fresh.

I know this is an unpopular opinion but I actually liked the 3rd one better than the second one. The story made more sense to me. Turning an entire section of the city into a prison in part 2 was a really bad premise that didn't make a whole lot of sense.

You're not alone. I also enjoyed the third one more than the second. I really thought the third one got an unfair rap just because it didn't add a lot of new features (which is kind of a lame negative, in my opinion).

It was a rock solid Batman game experience, and I was pretty impressed that a totally different developer pulled off the feel of it so well. Some of the review scores it got were a travesty. Gamespot, for instance, gave it a paltry 6 despite praising the mechanics and storyline. Only cons? Not innovative enough and some weak multiplayer characters. That's just total bullshit. It's not up to us, as gamers, to dream up fanciful new features and innovations and then ding the developer for not including them. There's no Bill of Rights that says every sequel has to have X number of new features or the game sucks.

I played the hell out of Arkham Origins and enjoyed every minute of it. Was it innovative? Nope. But I loved the first two Batman games so more of the same didn't change the fun factor.

Dude, we've already got stuff like Bloodborne, The Order: 1886, Dying Light, Evolve and The Witcher 3 coming out that month. It's not like we'll be pining for new games to play. slywink
