I think it worked out well for me because I had played pretty much through New York before wandering from the game for a bit. I came back pretty fresh and had good momentum for the rest of the game. The only place I felt burned out was actually the last segment of the last mission, which I didn't like nearly as much as the other missions. I thought the very last section of the game was tedious.

I'll take a look at The Darkness and Lost Planet. Thanks. I grabbed The Darkness when Sears had it on sale for $5, so I know that one is in my backlog.

I recent played through both Lost Planet (2 weeks ago) and The Darkness (Dec) so I wouldn't go for one of them personally although they are both good games. LP is pretty short so it could easily be finished. TD is a bit longer but still reasonable.

It's getting to be time to put up the candidates for the May GOTM...

Last call for suggestions, or forever hold your peace. Any thoughts for some DS games that might work well for this?

Yup, that one is a definite candidate. So far I'm thinking...
God of War (PS2)
Gun (XBox 360/XBox/PC)
The Darkness or Lost Planet (XBox 360)
Something from the DS

Is the PSP version of God of War just an enhanced version of the original PS2 version? Or are the stories and content pretty different?

the PSP GoW is it's own game, with a story that takes place before the events of either of the PS2 games.

personally, i'll be voting for God of War as the next GotM...been wanting to play the series ever since i picked up my PS3 almost nine months ago, and GotM would give me the perfect excuse to pick them up icon_cool

Actually GoW PSP takes place between GoW1 and GoW2. It's a really good game too. The only down side to it is that it can be beaten in about 6 hours.

Chains of Olympus takes place prior to the original God of War.

From the sounds of it, God of War looks to be the front runner at this point.

I'll put together the voting thread sometime in the next couple of days.

Still two weeks to go for Deus Ex.

The Voting Thread for May/June is now up and running through this Friday at noon CST.

Vote now. Vote often. Vote confidently, but not confidentially.

No worries. Just curious, as I think you were the only other person close to perhaps finishing this month.

Looks like we had two survivors.

Hey look, I'm bumping an ancient thread.

The reason is I am deep into Deux Ex again and hoping to finish it this time. I've gotten further than I ever have before, but my recent bad luck (losing 5 hours of progress in Ori) has hit me again. This time I have only lost about 1.5 hours, but I'm still hoping to avoid having to play over again.

What I think caused this is I was getting on to Jock's helicopter and was killed during the conversation. So I think part of the game thinks I'm dead and part of the game thinks I'm alive. The result is that I can walk around in the next area, but I can't use my arms. I can choose the pistol, but it doesn't show up in my hands and I can't shoot, and the same for anything else. If I try to pick up a box it says my hands aren't empty.

I've done a bunch of googling but haven't found a solution to this issue. I figured I would ask here to see if anyone knows any console commands that might fix it or something.

EDIT: Nevermind, I wound up just playing over the parts I had to. It turned out for the best because I found some secrets I had missed before.

Well, it only took 6 years, but I have finished the game of the month! It finally just clicked this time, as I picked a very specific path to go down (stealth pistol) and made good use of augmentations. Really an amazing game, especially all the little consequences that can result from your decisions and the general flexibility it offers. I'm glad I was finally able to get this out of my backlog.

Perhaps my favourite part about is the world. The backstory they built felt like a lot of thought went into it and felt like some good hard sci-fi.
