As mentioned in the Buying thread, this game looks really promising for those who like being a truly stealthy ninja in the vein of the old Tenchu games.

The big main difference between this and Tenchu is that your character has some sort of shadow magic, so you can almost "paint" shadows into the world, turn invisible, teleport between them and other stuff.  It seems like a really cool mechanic, but the zipping around does make me miss the grappling hook from Tenchu.

They just announced a release date of October 4th, with this launch date trailer.  It's coming to Steam for PC/Mac/Linux and to PS4 in downloadable form, or a special disc version for PS4.

I've been eagerly anticipating this, since the gaming gods refuse to reboot the Tenchu series for me. Some of the stealth aspects (most notably the enemy line of sight, or lack thereof) have me a little concerned, but the developer definitely nailed the atmosphere.

I'm cautiously optimistic, and if user reviews are favorable, I'm in on day 2.

The game will supposedly be priced at $20, and is about 6 hours long. So it definitely won't have the scale of a Tenchu title. One cool thing the developers mentioned is that the game has three boss fights, and all are defeated via stealth mechanics.

The first 13 minutes.

I'm less impressed now, as you move around the environment like a 3rd person version of dishonored. In other words, you can teleport from shadow to shadow. I'll probably still grab it if the price point is indeed 20 dollars, but I wish the mechanics were slightly more hardcore.

Yeah, they sure seemed to be using that teleport power a whole lot in that video.  That is the one thing I don't like about the game as well, and really wish it was just an equivalent of the Tenchu grappling hook (which I loved for the freedom it gave at the time).
