Rainbow 6: Siege

One shot kills...   basically hardcore.  Also, no respawn during matches

I hated terrorist hunt, it was a great concept, but the insta-pop behind you in a dead end you already cleared was bullshit.

Game looks like it has potential and R6 was where I met Kato so I'll have to kill him there again.

They should be able to fix that by having all the T's spawn in a level instead of waiting for the headcount to drop enough to add more.  Also, I really hope they let you bring doorjambs so you could have a way to hold a location.

I'm not surprised that the last R6 game was canned as it was going to be pretty controversial.  I wish we had got to see it.

And like Punisher said in the Hardline thread, I really want a game like SWAT 3.

I think the one-hit kills are a step in the right direction, but they really need to consider having wounding hits as dying from a shot to the arm or leg is a bit much.

I'm always excited to hear about a new Rainbow game. Hopefully there will be good co-op modes as well as multiplayer.

I really really miss the co-op from GRAW (first one mostly, although the second was pretty fun as well). Those missions were a blast.

Not to mention I will never forget the moment we learned that yes, you can in fact shoot the dust off chopper. And yes, it will lose us the mission even after finishing the objective.

<group standing around in the extraction zone> wonder if you can shoot the chopper? <gunfire ensues, chopper goes down in flames, lots of laughter and accusations fly>

I'm in! I've really missed this series. A bunch of friends would get together to play R6, Rogue Spear and Raven Shield. We'd often play Lone Wolf or Free-For-All and one guy was terrible with grenades and would always end up dropping them at his feet. I'm glad to see this series return to its roots. They were intense experiences where each shot counted. I loved feeling of knowing every move you made could be your last. It really made for a different game feel to most shooters today. You had to be patient, and yet you had to keep moving and and it was incredibly rewarding.

As far as wounding hits go, if you got shot in the leg, you'd limp for the rest of the round. I forget which one introduced that, but I liked that mechanic and I'd love to see it return.

This trailer is intense, and I love the idea of being able to use breach charges on any surface, including floors.  If it manages to work the same way they show in the trailer, that should add an interesting dynamic with the environment changing around you. The original series was around before any kind of use of physics in games, and I'm imagining the interesting things they could do now with objects in the game. Like say, a lamp gets bumped off a table as you try to nudge yourself around a corner and clatters to the ground, alerting the opposition to your location.

Loved how the terrorists had the window blockers appear out of thin air when placing them on the windows.  For a game that wants to be realistic, that sure took away from the it all.

I liked the demo, but I expect with areas that small, the actual gameplay won't be anywhere near that tactical. I expect people will just be blowing walls open and it will be nonstop gunfire.  I suppose they could have designed it to prevent that from happening, but it remains to be seen.

Can't wait to play this with the old and new gang. But whatever sidearm Hark will use will need an immediate nerf.
Also I like that this game SEEMS to encourage actual stacking and room clearing tactics.

You'll like it until the third time you get shot in the back.

sounds like it is design to stop you from doing that
